:evillol: the US skyline is coming in 2007 but will no longer carry the SKYLINE badge so we in the US will never see a production car sold here with the SKYLINE badge, so it will be called NISSAN GT-R (R35), it will not be an INFINITY (true they already sell the skyline in the US as an infinity model but the chassis is different than previous model skylines<v35> and there will not be a GTR version to the V35). The engine on the 07 gtr is ,might be a VQ32DETT bassically the 350z's engine with less displacement, twin turbo. Wich Lotus is working on the R35 with many components such as hadling (suspension ect.) and its said to have 450bhp, i think if it doesnt have an RB26DETT is not worth being the new GTR

:evillol: the US skyline is coming in 2007 but will no longer carry the SKYLINE badge so we in the US will never see a production car sold here with the SKYLINE badge,
So it's not the US Skyline then, is it?
so it will be called NISSAN GT-R (R35), it will not be an INFINITY (true they already sell the skyline in the US as an infinity model but the chassis is different than previous model skylines<v35>
The "Infiniti GT-R" trademark has already been registered.
and there will not be a GTR version to the V35).
So what car are you talking about?
The engine on the 07 gtr is going to be a VQ35DETT bassically the 350z's and most of other Nissans engine with twin turbo. Wich Lotus is working on the R35 with many components and its said to have 450bhp
The motor will be a dry sumped VQ32DETT with electronically assisted turbos built by Cosworth. Lotus is helping with suspension and handling characteristics.
but in my opinion is ugly!
You don't know what the car looks like yet.

There are no official pictures. Any renderings are pure speculation. You can say the concepts and renditions are ugly, but you can't say anything about the real car. You don't know what the car will look like. None of us do.

The Skyline 350GT is not identical to the G35. There are several other options available for the Japanese model, including an 8-step CVT with paddle shifters.

The car will be called the GT-R. The "Skyline" and "GT-R" names were rumored to have been separated, and the recently registered "Infiniti GT-R" trademark finally confirms that.
My personal theory is that since the two names are separate, you will need two different chassis designations for the two models. The Skyline got the new "V" designation, so the GT-R might keep the "R" designation going.

I dont know if my theory is correct but this is the way i see it: lets take toyota's celica 95 the chassis is st202, it carries a 5s-fe engin the 's' in the chassis code meaning it carries an 'S' engine, the new celica gts chassis(00-04) has the chassis zzt230 and it has a 2zz-ge engine the chassis has changed because of the ZZ engine. But previous skylines have a enr32 & bnr32 ....and so on they all have a rb engine or short for just r series..im not sure this is correct, because the 350z chassis is z33 unless if it has a V before the z33. now in the case of the infinity g35 the chassis is v35 im guessing because of the VQ engine...........like i said that is the way i see it, but if this was correct many of the nissans must have a V in their chassis code :screwy: .

Not bad. The only problem with what you said is that the 'R' designation for the Skyline chassis actually started before the use of the RB engine. The designation began way back with the '82 R30, which used the L20E and FJ20 four bangers. Back in 1986, the R31 was the first to use the RB straight six, and even then it was just a 2L single turbo version.
The current Fairlady Z is the Z33, and the previous model was the Z32, and the Z31 before that. Notice how the main designation didn't change as Nissan went from different engines, a VQ, DOHC VG, and then SOHC VG(or an RB20DET in Japan, I think), respectively.
The Maximas are the same way. The A30 Maxima started in '84, and had a SOHC VG30E. The A31 come along in '89, and started out with the same powerplant, and in '91, recieved a derivative of the DOHC VG30DE called the VE30DE. Next came the '95-99 A32, which was the debut of the VQ30DE. The '00-01 A33 featured a revised VQ30DEK, and recieved a VQ35DE version in '02. The '04 A34 model got a new generation VQ35DE.
So chassis designations are not really dependent on the engine. Now there are other letters added to chassis designation, like the 'P' in RPS13 denotes a 180SX with an SR20DE(T), but the main designations that most people use are unaffected.

Thanks ArthurKing. Its my sig, and yea its true STIs are faster to 60, but when Car And Driver tested them out, the Evo won the track. Plus Car And Driver said it has better handling. The reason the Evo is slower to 60 is because it has a bigger turbo which takes longer to spool. Thats what Car And Driver said, but then again Skyline_R32_Canada, you know more about cars than all the editers at Car And Driver. Dont tell me what to take out of my sig! :dogpile: you also missed something the sti has to shift to 3 to reach 60, the evo can get there in 2nd, but the sti is faster to the 1/4mile but again the evo catches it on a long straight away, but the sti has a faster 1/4 mile maybe because of its 300hp/short gears, and the evo's 271hp; i would buy and evo for an sti anytime!

Yes yes we still are in the skyline thread the f 430 m stands Fro Ferrari 430 modena! Which is the new target of nissans R series ex r34 but thats what the r35 is meant to compete with. Nissan will have high hopes if it comes to be right now there is no r35.

The 'skyline' badge is history worldwide after the R35. I have heard reports that Nissan Australia will be bringing the new R35 GT-R to be sold locally...the first one since the R31. I first heard that they were developing a small block twin turbo V8 for the new GT-R, but a twin turbo version of the 350Z motor is more probable.
Pity about the looks of the R35 though. although only a concept the general shape will probably stay the same

The first concept photos i saw of the R35 looked really sleek, similar sort of shape to the vette...but that never got anywhere. can tell by the shape of the 350Z the direction of the design of nissan cars to come.
Pity about the looks of the R35 though. although only a concept the general shape will probably stay the same

it wont be an R.. itll be a V...
nissan doesnt make the rb engines anymore....
The engine doesn't have anything to do with the chassis designation. The R-series chassis Skylines were around for an entire generation before the RB engines were introduced.

The Skyline will always remain legendary in terms of performance, and tuning potential. The RB series motors are just unbreakable. Its a pity that they had to dump the motor because of new emission controls.
Since owning one...that is all i look at. Next stop will hopefully be an R34 GTR V-Spec II. Just so damn expensive here. Be very lucky to find one here under $100K. Closer to $150K, in fact i have seen one for sale (brand new only 25Kms) for $202K.
Getting back to the R35 GTR potentially running a twin turbo version of the VQ35DE, a local tuning house here (Xspeed) developed a twin turbo kit for the 350Z pumping 450hp at the treads...

Just curious...would you guys go a large capacity single turbo conversion, or get larger turbos and keep the twin turbo configuration. I have seen a lot of high hp output GTR's converted to a large single turbo. Wondering what you guys think? These are for the street too, so i assume there is a bit of lag until the big single spools up.

but would'nt a big turbo give out more turbo lag, unless if you get a good blowoff valve in there also, i dont know you are still talking about the rb26dett engine right

yeah the RB26. Ones that i have seen at autosalons that have high HP are also all single turbo conversions. But then I have seen an R33 GTR Widebody here for sale with twin blitz top mount turbos and a lot of other mods pumping 800HP.
Check it out...the Widebody looks totally awesome!!

Damn straight!!! when you can tune an RB26 motor to pump 1015hp at all 4 wheels like veilside have done with their R34 drag car, you know that the RB26 has hell potential. I have seen footage of other RB26 motors with plenty of hp to spare and capable of running well over 300Km/ph and they r street legal.
