Just spent more than 200$ and a few man hours on front and back brakes to get that stupid Brake Light and ABS light to turn off.... No Go!!
The brake light is always on and the ABS only comes on 2 seconds after I take off followed by a ..weird-really-hard-to-describe sounds comming from the front or back wheel...
After researching a bit on the net, I found this common problem on msn autos:
"A common problem on this vehicle is Brake Warning lamp and ABS Warning lamps coming on.The cost to repair the Brake Warning lamp and ABS Warning lamps is estimated at $10.00 for parts and $32.50 for labor. All prices are estimates based on $65 per flat rate hour and do not include diagnostic time or any applicable sales tax"
This is exactly what is happening, but, what part do I need to replace for 10$ ?? Does anybody know?
Thanks for all your input!!

I had same problem on 2001 Windstar. Spent $600 to have a "tone ring" repair done, which fixed that problem.

if both lights are on it's probably low on fluid - check the fluid level ond top off if low and cycle the key - if not remove the plug from the level sensor on the brake fluid resivoir and cycle the key - if the lights go out the float has sunk in the resivoir

Thanks for the info!!!!
I couldnt figure out why the brake warning lamp was going on!!
I filled up the level the other day and that didn't work. But I didn't think about the level sensor.
I'll do that!
Thanks again!

there is a sensor behind the air filter ducting that will cause both lights to come on. Just had mine changed

I bought my 95 windstar used and the ABS light came on shortly after buying it. Within 1 or 2 days the brake light came on too. The ABS problem was a loose or dirty wire harness connection going into the ABS distribution box. Unplugged the harness and plugged it back in and problem solved :) The brake light was low fluid level. Strange they would happen at the same time.

Hi, my 2001 have the same problem first the brake light turns on and one month later the ABS light turns on, i chech the cruise control to know if the presure switch on the brake pump is ok and it works, check the fluid level and was ok even i refill it until the top.
I remove clean and check the 4 ABS sensors wires and harnes and nothing happens the both lights still on.
Someone knows whats the voltage on the hand parking brake switch? i disconect the wire and checkit the reading is 1.02 volts it is ok? i dont think so.
Someone have a diagram indicating that information?
Thanks to all
