high idle for 92 saturn

My 92 saturn suddenly started idling at 2500 Rpms and when I am driving I can take my foot off the gas and it does not lose speed. It is a manual, the clutch was replaced less than a year ago. I tried replacing the TPS and that did not fix it. The lowest that the Rpms go down to is 2000. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

are the rpms normal when stopped and high only when rolling? has the ECT sensor ever been replaced? whats the gas mileage? any SES light?

with any luck, the throdle body may just be dirty. take off the intake and look for carbon build-up. if there is, use sensor-safe carb and choke cleaner to remove it.

The rpms are only high when the car is not moving or the clutch pedal is pressed, rolling is okay.
The car has somewhere over 200,000 miles, I don't know the exact number because the odometer stopped working awhile ago. I have never replaced the ECT sensor and I got the car five years ago.
I will try cleaning the throttle body first and then replace the ECT sensor if necessary.

I have a 97 saturn (SL) and had a high idle problem. My intake manifold at the #1 cylinder area was leaking. If you spray carb cleaner around this area and the idle changes - you know that's the problem.

yes a vacuum leak is also a posibility, i'm still hoping its a dirty IAC (alway check the easyist idea first).

if its a SOHC with a vacuum leak, check the intake manifold gasket, they had a tendency(sp?) to get "sucked in" to the engine

I tried the carb cleaner and that didn't work. I couldn't figure out the problem, so I took it in and it turned out to be a vacuum leak. Thanks for all the advice.
