Is there any way to test for a motor problem or on a switch problem on the drivers door panel. Passsenger door switch does not function either. Driver window in down position. need to raise it to keep rain out. How??? If motor needs to be removed, I have examined and looks like it is being held by some type of rivets, not bolts or screws. Advise removal procedures. Can not raise manually, motor gear is engaged and will not allow movement. Advise

This happens occasionally on my 95, but only with the drivers side, all I do is tap on the motor while pressing the switch. So far, its gone up everytime. One of these days ill get it replaced...

Thanks, I tried the tapping, but no luck. I ran a wire directly from the +battery post and touched the back side of the switch in question and it raised the window. Great. So now I have a power problem to the switch or the switch is bad. I need to find out how to test both of them. any ideas on what color is power. Is black ground or negative? Any help anyone.

Hi
I have had problems on my '96 with the switches, mostly for the rear side windows. When they become intermittent I take the switches out, and I can take them apart and clean the switch contacts with a little 600 grit sandpaper and it usually solves the problem. In a pinch I have found that if I rapidly tap the switch I can get the windows closed. I know it sounds a little lame but it might get you out of the woods. I would first suspect the switches.

Okay thanks, I will try it. Is it easy to open the switches? I pulled out the connections but did not think to see how to open the switch. Sounds like it would work. i thought they were factory sealed.

Well, again I have problems mostly with the side rear window switches, but I was able to get them apart. They snap together. Not necessarily made for easy open and close, but it was obvious how they came apart when I tinkered with them a bit.
Good luck
