there is a special two-jaw or three-jaw puller you can buy at any auto store.
the pulley must be positioned when you put it back on, some will go on only one way so you can screw it up, but i not sure if saturn's pulley is one way, so you may want to mark it with a little white-out just to be safe. and when installing, put a little bit of RTV between the pulley assembly flange and the washer, just there. it will help prevent a oil leak. torque the retaining bolt to 159 ft-lb
also, this may be to little to late, but i just found out a trick to find a dead cylinder. after the engine heats up, spray a little bit of water on the exhaust manifold right on each pipe leading to the head, if one evaporates slower then the other three, its the dead one.

well its not the pully that i'm having problems with it's the nut that holds the pully. When i pulled the head off the 4 ylinder looks alot cleaner then the rest. What could that mean?Just to say this car may never run again but we'll see

use ether a strap wrench or a peice of wood as a wedge so the pulley won't move. with something torqued down that much, i'll bet you will need a long braker bar or an air impact wrench.
the cleaned cylinder is ether do to a blown head gasket leaking coolent and "steam cleaning" the cylinder(but unlikey, didn't you say you weren't loosing coolent), or the unburnt fuel cleaned it(assuming that was the dead one)

if the one cylinder was "cleaned" wouldn't it be the fuel system? Unless I didn't look at the other cylineders well. We'll put the car back together and see what happends. But if both of the 4 and 3 or any other ones are "clean" what could it be?

a blown head gasket will leak water/coolent in to the cylinder, it will heat up and turn to steam, "steam cleaning" the cylinder.
unburnt fuel from a dead cylinder(i'm assuming from the valves not fully closing, or whatever was wrong with the old lifters) will also spray and clean the carbon out of the cylinder. i know fuel doesn't seem like a cleaning agent, but it does work a little.
