Top Speed?

Well, back from to the original posting, I've got a stock 95 GS, and as we all know it's tons of fun to drive. I got it up to about 120 up I-15 outside of Pendleton once. The night I got the car, in fact. I've done 100-110 a few times since then, but my tires are a bit outta balance or somethin, starts to vibrate like crazy so I don't like drivin over 80 or so. I'm gettin some new rims and tires, so, I won't be havin a problem with dat no more, so I should be good for another speed test

And 160 isn't too hard to believe at all. If you had a few decent mods, and enough time to open up, i could see it happening. 'course, the guy might have diff sized tires so the speedo is readin wrong.....

Why is 160 so hard to beleive? If your on a highway going down a grade and have moderate mods 160 is deff. reachable. He has black racing rims, I dont know what his tires are rated at and depending on the rating of the tire he could do 160. Like I said earlier though he only held it for a short time, he was not continually doing 160... it was on a grade and once he hit about 160 and it wouldnt go any faster.

Black racing rims do not count as a performance mod, what else does he ahve done to the car?

It said 35 psi on the side of the tires, and I think that with 35 pounds of boost he might be able to hit 160 :rofl:


PS. I don't think people understand how off the mark their speedo can be with tires etc. he might have been doing like 138 and had it show up as 160 on the speedo

WTF? I wasnt saying the "black racing rims" were helping performance but usually only race type tires are made for rims of those size and not tires with a 90mph speed rating. Mbrother he had 17's and the only tires he could buy were rated at 140mph and up... Therefore if he has racing style rims (The black racing ones.), racing style tires are usually what fit and what is sold. So I would assume the tires were of a high speed rating because they are the only kind that fit on those rims. lamehonda, you dont have room to talk... your driving a honda... what would you know about speed? If I want advice on neon and how to apply lame a$$ flame decals... Ill ask you... untill then go away.

Hold the insults, but 160mph is really fast. There is no room for estimation, it's just horsepower and drag on the car. If we generalize a bit with drag, how fast do certain cars go? I think the EVO 8 is supposed to do 155mph with 300hp, SRT-4 to 148mph at ~230hp, and us a little lower stock. 300+ horsepower is not exactly a stock turbo... and a turbo upgrade might not be considered 'close to stock.'

try taking a picture at night, with a hottie losing her mind and the pass seat, and then the flash goes off and you are now blind, passing 135 and the screams coming from the pass seat have now trippled. oh and dodge traffic too.

Sounds like the drive my friend used to take to school we got from the north side of town to hte south in 5 minutes just wish it was 3 lane not 2...except...i was in his passenger seat holding on for dear life

I drive a nice 99 accord with leather because of prior indescretions with speed. The insurance company prefers it that way. I don't know about speed because I drive a honda? :loser:

What about dirt?

120+ on a dirt road, with pot holes 1985 honda crx 2" lift front 2.5" rear
Oh yeah 120 something in my gsx on pavement but its just not the same.

anyways, about the drag with the top down, it isn't that bad although it does get up there quicker with it up. loud as hell too. someone told me your eardrums will pop out over like 110 or something. i'm fine, and so are a qcouple of other people [physicaly that is. mental damage may be there for a while ;)] and my speed limiter is like 138 or so, but under heavyt accel i will hit the limiter and upon quick clutch i will have so much inertia it will carry to just over 140.
