No, i really did burn the money. Unfortunately in the process the whole apartment complex was burnt down too. When the residents found out id been burning stuff inside the apartment, they got really mad. Especially when i said it was money. They tought i was crazy. However, when i explained that the money added up to exactly £666 and how it was earnt, they congratulated me on eschewing the devil, despite losing their homes, and in some cases family.
Anyone who has really enjoyed this thread should go and read 2 books by author Dan Brown. The first is Angel's and Demon's and the second is The DaVinci Code.
I really want to read the Da Vinci Code but to be honest the size of the damn book is putting me off. Currently reading Liar's Poker by Michael Lewis, good book.

read revelations. really all you need to know from the bible IMO is is Mark, Luke, and John, Revelations, Deuteronamy (i know that is an SP), and Genesis. psalms is a good book to read. all the others are telling things that happen with morals proving gods existance. i myself am a christian, i am moving away from religion, i beleive in god, i belive in jesus, i beleive in the bible. thouhg one oculd argue that with out religion you dont have god but one could argue back that one who has religion has to beleive that their way is the only way to god and if the accept other religions then they might as well not even follow their own religion. my beleif is that all who repent and arent overly bad will make it to heaven, Muslum, Budist, Christians, Jews. i beleive that christians will be more readily accepted and all that follow other Gods (all except for budist and hindu's follow the same basic God) will turn to christianity after they see the truth when they die.

People have pretty much hit the nail on the head. 666 is the mark of the beast, who will be personified on Earth as "the Anti-Christ." After the rapture, when all Christians will be taken up to heaven, the 7 year tribulation will occur, ruled by the Anti-Christ. People will be required to take the mark of the beast, on head or hand. Why, I'm not quite sure, however I believe the theory about it being a sort of micro-chip/identification/payment means/etc is valid. Anyone who does not take the mark will be killed, and will go to heaven, as they have refused the Beast. This is my understanding of "666," anyways.
If you see it as a page number, on your license, on a house, etc, don't worry, it doesn't mean a thing. Avoiding that is just like avoiding the number 13. I don't believe "666" will really take any effect until after the rapture.
BTW, I'm also a Christian, believing in God, Jesus, the Bible, etc, however, I'm more of a thinker/theorist than religion follower. Born and raised Baptist, but have ventured off slightly with some of my own theories.

Read That Book!!!
I was through it in two days, quickest I've ever read. It's great if you like a fast paced plot but the reason I loved it is the amount of information you get reading it. Plus, if you are a Christian, hold on because it reveals a very well documented and yet unknown fact about our faith. I've already started reading another book that is about The Davinci Code". I suggest the illustrated version too, just came out, saw it in the book store, was pissed I didn't have the pics to go along with the story when I first read it.

Well after I asked about the book a while back, I decided to get it and boy what a great novel. I haven't been so deep in a book like that for a long time. I too got the un-illustrated version first. I enjoyed it so much I did get the illustrated version the other day at Costco. (Ironically cheaper than the first one). I've since bought books from the author and other Davinci code books and dvd. Some agree with it some do not. I would recommend getting the Decoding Davinci dvd, really cool stuff. Regardless its a great topic to make one think. I can hardly wait for the movie.

Wow, I am amazed how many people think like I do! No, I am not a perfect Christian, but I cannot keep silent.
First, in Revelations we are told to count the number of a MAN. His number will add up to 666. The bible does not say that the man is the beast, just that a man will hold this number.
Keep in mind, in the end times, everyone will receive a mark, or seal. Those that belong to Christ will be sealed with the "seal of god", those that worship the beast and his image belong to the beast, and will be sealed with a "mark" accordingly. Just as the bible says, Romans 6:16 Know you not, that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are to whom you obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Don't expect end time events to be put on hold until everyone receives a tattoo on their forehead. That is not what the original text said at all. The Living Bible translates "mark" as "tatoo", but these two words have entirely different meanings. And many verses of the KJV say IN the forehead and IN the hand. Could this be literal? Could be, but is there another possibity? When you ask someone to "give you a hand" you are asking for "action". In the forehead likely means in your thoughts, but could it even mean in your "worship"? We worship God with our minds. A quadraplegic can still be saved even though he or she has no control of their body because we worship with our minds. The Mark of the Beast and The Seal of God are both marks that God sees. Are we really so petty to think that all we have to do is resist, kick and scream when the devil tries to stamp 666 in our foreheads? Or place a microchip under our skin? Not at all.
What about buying and selling? Well, those that do not comply, or worship the beast or the image of the beast will not be able to buy or sell. When, not IF the government enforces worship, we will be told who to worship, how to worship, and most importantly what DAY to worship. It is then that God's followers must decide who they will obey and worship. Man's way, or God's way? There will be no in-between, and there will be incredible pressure and coersion to comply with the "popular concensus" view. By the time this happens, it is very likely that we will all be living in a cashless society, so it would be VERY easy indeed to restrict buying and selling. The bible says "causes ALL that do not worship the beast nor his image and receive his mark IN their forehead or IN their hand shall not be able to buy or sell." All. Period. But what about the poor nations that don't have the technology for a cashless society? Well, there's a little tools that is already being implemented to control buying and selling on a global scale. It's called "economic sanctions". Nations can literally starve to death through severe sanctioning; a tool that is used today to force nations to comply with WTO demands.
We aren't far off, people. Oh, and don't expect to be raptured before anything bad happens either. Every story in the bible tells me that God's people are refined by going through trials and tribulations.

"Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. 14If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you."

I heard that 666 also represents three events that involve the number 6. Im not sure what they are but I do remember hearing about the 6 seal. It is similar to a combination lock. When three events take place at the same time it will mean that the beast has appeared.

can someone tell me the basic idea expressed in this book.. i mean i have heard a lot about it but id like to know what exactly is expressed before i buy it. a short summary will do, dont need it to be too lenghty.

I don't see satan as some winged evil looking creature. In fact I don't see satan at all. As a Christian I know he is real but not because others have told me so and not because I have had run ins with him. I know he is real because Christ said he is. I think that's how most Christians feel.
I don't see him as that either, but most people put the horn and pitchfork image on him.
Most people might find this shocking or won't believe it but Satan is beautiful. Somewhere in the Bible, I don't know where, it says that Satan, or Lucifer, was the most beautiful angel God ever made. This is one reason he tried to "one up" God. Lucifer saw himself to be more beautiful and powerful than God and that caused him to be cast from Heaven.
