I have a 2000 Impala with about 54000 miles on it and just recently i've noticed this really horrible noise when i accelerate. Its the same sound as putting a piece of paper into a moving fan and its really loud. I dont want to drive the car until i find out what this problem is please help me out. Thanks

Try looking for a piece of plastic in the cooling fan. This will sound like and airplane taking off at higher revs but sounds like paper in a fan when at low or idling rpm's

It sounds like a torque converter going south to me.

go directly to your dealer. the transmission is going out and there are shavings rattling around in there. insist that the dealership/GM pay for this if it is out of warranty, because it is a mfr defect and they will tell you it cost 2200.00 for you to pay (this is not true).
while the car is comfortable, there are too many things wrong with it, alignment problems, ball bearings and struts had to be replace, driveshaft replaced, air bag lights going off and on and NOW the recall because of the fuel injector. the car does stall - i am at 61k and am going to dump this car in another month. mine is an LS, but after this costly and timely experience would never buy another GM again.
