Everyone needs to see a little more about the SVT before the keep dissing the car. Most of you probably drive a little honda or something of the sort and i havent raced a civic yet that can even attempt to hang with my focus SVT so maybe you should know a little about a car before you talk bad about it.

ive raced an svt focii...... beat it too..... stock times are 15.9 according to car and driver and motor trend... my stock times are 15.7 in my '03 zx2... ive hit 15.8 w/ 17's in my basically stock zx2... if i put my 15's back on... no need to even say what would happen... svt's are overrated... so are civic si's...

thats cuz people think SVT= straight line performance. The SVT Focus was made with AutoX in mind, if it had say the ZX2's gearing it would run consistant 15.2-.4 range, but it was geared for the twisties.
For th record i have seen a few SVT foci run 15.4-.6's with just air filters

ok you got a point there... the lightning is fuckin awesome and the mustang is fuckin cool as shit.... contour eh... never liked it but it was quick... focus is a joke imho... they could have put the duratec in it and supercharged that bitch... then i would worship the damn thing but w/ just the 2.0... lets just say that every svt out there BESIDES the focus is supercharged... its supergay that the focus is not... all svts are thought of as straight line machines... i don't see why the focus should be anything different...

I donno what retard tested those cars but a Contour SVT can run cnsistant 15.2-15.4 runs with a good driver, and a SVT Focus can run constant 15.5-15.7
and fro a Supercharged 5.4l w/ only 380HP is total shit. if a 4.6l can make 390hp then why would they make a truck that can probably make that with out the charger. IMO the Lightning is VERY over rated due to no competition untill now. its only 30HP more then the Hemi or Silverado SS that also has AWD, and th3 SRT-10 makes more HP per L, so even if it was a v8 it would in theory have more power then the Lighting. Those times are from the mags by their times. They're generally considered good times. Naturally better drivers can get better times. But they are used as a basic comparison. And they're both off by the same amount...... Contour is only .2 sec. faster.
The lightning is no different than the Cobra, STI or evo...
It's really simple to get very large increases in hp. There are plenty around here putting down over 400 whp. And in the hands of a good driver, are very capable track cars, with excellent handling.
I know someone who uses one for a tow vehicle and then took it on the track. He beat up on some cars that he shouldn't have been able to.

i'm really not that impressed with the SVT focus either. as for the other svts yeah they rock. as for the svt contour not being fast, could that really be true? 190- 200 hp not fast? could it be that heavy? i'd like to see it with a vortech supercharger, they claim 290hp i think? either way love the looks of all svts

your right my fault the L makes 4more hp per liter, but even with 2 cylinders disabled on the SRT-10 its roughly even HP wise

and with all that more hp the srt-10 makes its only 2 tenths faster. might want to cut some of that weight off the pig. the new lightning is gonna have 500hp and lightweight racing rims. and not weight near as much as that srt-10

Lately i've begun to hate Ford. I have a 2003 ZX3 with only 18,000 miles on it. The damn thing has been giving me a problem that i couldnt figure out till now, only because of this forum. As far as the SVT goes..very nice interior but its not a fast car. All i have on my Focus is an intake and exhaust. My friend has a SVT focus, also with an intake and an exhaust. I figure he should smoke me in a race, right? WRONG. he beats me alright but not buy much ( maybe a few feet). so we figure something is up with his car. we take it to Ford and the car was jacked up b4 he pulled it out of the dealership. Piston 3 was bad. problem fixed. so now we think he'll do much better..WRONG..now he only beats me by .5 of a second MAX. The SVT isn't a special car. just another poor quality car put together by FORD.

that means he his a bad driver twisted...the zx3's and SVT's have a MAJOR difference in horsepower. he mustve not known how to shift. and quit hatin the fords because they have the BEST warrenty out there. take it to ford instead of trying to fix problems yourself and they will do it for free.
and btw. the SVT is hittin up 170 hp compared to the 130 a stock zx3 is puttin out. or if you want to talk numbers....112 whp for a stock zx3 and around 155 or so for the svt. SVT's are quick, but you shouldnt judge the car from a dumbshit driver.

and 143whp vs 108(more realistic numbers) inst much of a difference when the SVT has taller wheels and the zx3 has better gearing and less weight then the svt

Most SVT Focus dyno in around 150-155 whp and stock ZX3 right around 105-109 whp. I've seen a luck one come in 112 whp. That just means dyno tuning will not gain them much. The Zetec has no locks on the cam gears, leading to the HP differences.
It takes more than a couple of mods for a ZX3 to beat a SVT Focus....
The ZX3 needs cam gears and dyno tuning just to get out of the hole they start in. Start with a base ZX3 without power or premium packages.
Add cam gears, dyno tuning, race header and 2.25 exhaust w/flex and a Volant and then you can beat a SVT. (For a whole lot less money. :iceslolan )

hey...guy....it was me not zx2. and after reading NUMEROUS THINGS FROM TOP TUNERS over the past few months, the structural DESIGN OF THE CHASSIS will not allow the truck to be able to OBTAIN THE SPEED aquired from a 500 hp motor because the limit of the chassis would handle is 150 mph. SO IVE HEARD!!!! but hey...you buy one and prove the things ive read wrong, than i will appologize.

hello who the hell rates their cars in top speed i mean for an internet site i've never seen someone say my car goes 190mph. do you know what a car that traps at 150 mph will run 10's maybe even 9's. thats plenty fast. as for your example being the lightning won't reach a very high mph that may be true, but i'll state again i dont go on top speeds and i dont know anyone else that does either so my bad on that one.

a S/R doesnt have a published 1/4 and the skidpad it not as high as a SVT's is .01-.02 lower
I hear many stock SVT's running 15.3 at the track stock, S/R's have to have an AWSOME driver to hit 15.4 and even that is a streach many only manage 15.6-.7

We had the North texas focus crowd from focal jet come out and have a friendly competition with us and not one of them won against us. the guy with the 9.4 second focus broke his shift linkage on the way to the track sorry about his luck. he had my mods and a 60 shot and beat me by a whole 2 tenths that is what i was getting at being funny.
i also beat a friends turboed civic and a mazdaspeed protege and if your not that knowledgeable the mazdaspeed protege is turboed also.
Also not every ounce counts that is clueless fucktards. when i got that 9.6 i ran consistent 9.7's which is the same time the sunfire with the 60 shot ran. anyways the day i ran the 9.6 i had more weight in the car and a full gas tank. the secret you may ask is all in the launch 2.1 60ft.

I have a Focus and I love the car I just wish mine was a stick. That and that it had more power. Otherwise the Focus is a fast car. I've raced many people and most of them lose to me.

ok so since john really didn't clarify it... he doesn't have n2o... he has udp, dual side exhaust (which sounds mean as shit, so it does have a function), full length 4-2-1 header, and pots... thats it... and he ran that 9.6 w/o the full length header... in case u r wondering the guy that ran the 15.8 w/ 17's and only POT's... ya, that was me... can your focus match that? no, i didn't think so...
another thing... take a look at ur 1/8th mile times... they should be w/ the slips... i bet they're more than 10.5... you do realize that that is just shy of 1 full second SLOWER than john's zx2 w/ mild bolt on's? think and read b4 u post...

no.......dual exhaust wont do shit for 4-banger UNLESS ITS A BOXER which...foci are not. its proven man....it only adds extra weight. it can serve a purpose as to...sound, but nothing else. your exhaust is only as good as its narrowest point. splitting a single exhaust into dual, like i said, is pointless.

hahaha...well lets see if i ran that 9.6 at an 8th mile strip which i did then that is my finishing time you retard. take a look at all the focus slips you can find and you will see that prolly most of them dont get that unless they are built up a bit, also the 8th mile time directly correlates with the 1/4 mile time. seeing as though i had top end mods and all i would say a 9.6 8th mile is pretty freaking respectable.

5.0 pushrod = 10,195 +s/h (assuming you install your self
4.6 = 6,325 +s/h
and unless you use a cobra motor have under 300whp and have roughly no handeling

i doint have any slips but i beat a saturn sc2 that had slips that said 16s and i beat him by two car lengths he has a dohc I4 12psi turbo intercooler bored out header free flowing exhaust and other mods and it wasnt at the track
