2001 Impala with a hyper relay and lots of electrical quirks

I have a 2001 Impala LS that has a hyper active relay. It only does this when it gets hot outside. On hot days when I start the car, the security msg comes on, the battery run down relay on the pass side fuse panel just clicks and clicks and clicks, when it does this, the AC compressor fails to come on, the interior lights flash when the relay clicks, and the daytime running lights shut off. After the clicking slows down, in between clicks, the ac compressor comes back on, and the lights stop their intermittant flashes, if this happens at night, the headlights, and dash lights flash per click unless I manually turn on the switch. I replaced the relay to no avail, my local Advance Auto cant find an error code with their computer.

I hope someone can assist before I take it to a dealer who will charge me out the wazzu just to plug in to their computer.

Thanks for any help.

problem solved...for now. I caved and took it to a chevy dealer fearing the worst. The dealership was very impressive though, they first ran the vin to make sure that it was not a recall item, they did find a recall item, but not the problem I was having. So they hooked up and found out that a little thing called the BCM was the issue. They first thought it was the lock cylinder, but the analysis said otherwise. The BCM is a fairly costly repair, 180.35 for the part (that goes on the inside driver side under the dash. Took two hours to fix. Depending on where you live that could range from $50-100 or more an hour labor. They charged me $60 an hour. So the total today for me was $338 after taxes. The dealership even stayed late in the service department to get my car fixed, and the actual price was below the initial quote. Cudos to that dealership, lets hope the issue does not return, it did not tonight. Felt good having A/C again. Will keep the post current if any issues arise again.

This is the only thing i can think of...if you leave a light on in your car, the car will sense the drain and shut it off....this is an idea or the only thing I can think of and will give others ideas when they read it. but anyways, i won't know what it is but whatever shuts those lights off when you accidently leave them on might be that problem. Does the engine stay running when it does this or does it stall out?

I too have had a problem with the same relay. My lights go on and off with the clicking. I took it to the shop and they replaced the ignition switch, and replaced the battery run down relay. Only to leave the place with a clicking and light show. I will be back to have them run a tech2 test on monday (when he gets it). I have 400$ into this already, and am not looking forward to a BCM replacement. I hope this is the problem, and nothing else.
