99 Saturn SL2 - Trim Paint Peel Issue

Folks,

You've probably experienced this seemingly common problem, but, my wife's 99 SL2 plastic trims (4 ea) located above each door has its clearcoat peeling off steadily. Besides a growing patchwork of touchup, does anyone have any suggestions for self help besides taking it to the body shop for an expensive repainting of these trims? Otherwise, I might as well take the entire car in for a new paint job....oh boy...

I was thinking to go pick up replacements at the local junkyard, but, Im sure the elements took care of the trim as well there....

only thing i can think of is taping it off and put another clearcoat layer on yourself
