p10 speakers... (oh- the front ones are my favorite - )
fronts: 4x6 coax
rears: some funky size- i forget what- but u can drop in a set of 6.5s no problem- i suggest that you take an old shirt and drill the shirt in between the speaker and the metal rear deck... just to keep the vibration down to a minimum. (naturally- cut a hole in the shirt for the speaker magnet)
:smoker:
good luck with the installation- the front door panels come off after unscrewing three bottom screws- two side ones and take off the power window button and unscrew the screw that you find inside.
roll down window- pull gently along the sides and bottom of door panel and the plastic tabs will release the door panel... coerce the door panel upwards and take the panel lip off the door on the top where it meets the window... be careful not to move too far away from the door while holding the panel- u have to undo the power window plug. (driver's side has power window plug AND trunk release/gas plug)
after removing the door panels- you'll see the speaker housing and the pathetic excuse the nissan kids in japan have for a 4x6 speaker.
remove speaker
and give to a neighbor for christmas.
install new speakers- and then proceed to follow aforementioned directions in reverse order.
ok- now to the rear speakers.
for the rear speakers- there are two buttons under the rear seat... i believe u push in- or pull and the rear bottom will pop up and away...
now you will see two huge screws on the bottom corners of the rear seat backing- undo those and the rear seat will become somewhat loose... gently pull the seatback upwards and the seatback will come loose (hooks at the top)
now you can see the screws (i think there are screws) that hold in the rear deck... go ahead and undo them... then CAREFULLY take a quarter (yes- the 25 cent piece) and unscrew the rear three plastic fuzzy screws...
give the brake light housing a tug and it will come loose- then unclip the plug that powers it.
now you're ready to lift the rear deck up and towards you i believe.
after doing so- you'll see the rear speakers-
remove speakers
and give to another neighbor.
drop in your own speakers- and then repeat the aforementioned directions in the reverse order.
for the most ideal scenario- i suggest you run new speaker wire to all speakers and make sure the speakers take the scenic route to the trunk (just in case you want to put an amp in later). i spent an evening to remove all my seats- vacuumed all the carpet- pulled up the carpet too- and ran my RCA patch cords down the left side of the tranny hump - and ran the speaker wire down the right side of the tranny hump.

good luck.

Bro, the size for the rear is 6 3/4 or what they call an oversized 6 1/2. I'm in the process of changing my rear speakers. I just bought a pair if Pioneer 6 1/2 (TA-A1655) BUT they are 6 3/4 compatible meaning they will perfectly fit within the spots for the screws.

I just did this last night in my 93.5. Sizes are definitely the same.
Did anyone notice that the stock speakers are pretty high quality? Mine had cones that looked like carbon fiber (although I'm sure they are not). The magnets are pretty beefy, etc.
In my car I installed a set of 5.25" MB Quart seperates. I had them laying around the house, so I used some adapters I made to mount them. Last night it was the rear speakers and head unit, tonight it's the front speakers. This is a lot of work!

I don't know about your stock speakers, but mine sucked IMO... :o
The rear speakers that I replaced said Clarion, but I would swear that the cones felt like manila folders!!! I have yet to hack into the 2 front speakers, but I'm pretty sure that they will be rather crappy, too.

Mine were like the one's Jay was decribing.. almost like a cf look to them... although i think the ones in my 94 were paper? I didn't think they sounded too bad though.. for being stock, it's one of the better system's i've heard.

Heh i also recently changed my stock speakers in my 1992 G20, i had them professionally installed because well its a pain in the old rump to do! To change the back speakers (Which were paper by the way), you pretty much have to rip the back seat of the car out to get at them.
The front speakers you gotta take the door panel off to get to, and needless to say they are also paper. New speakers are a must for these cars in the early years!
