What to do for 6.5'' speakers in front doors of P10~~~~~~

I got a tip off from Kyle Davis on how to put 6.5 inch speakers in the front doors of the P10. He mentioned something about a Chevy Cavalier and speaker mounts from Best Buy.
So I go to Best Buy and inquire about a set of speaker mounts for a Chevy Cavalier (95-99 model year) and the guy shows me a pair of speaker mounts that are for a 6.5 speaker but the mounting plate under that is a rectangle...
:p
They look like they will fit so I buy them for 12-13 bucks.
I take off my door panels at home and uninstall the blown 4x6 speakers that I've had for the past month and screw in the brackets. Then I check to see how the door panel would fit over the bracket (should have done this before I mounted the brackets- but I was so anxious.
The door panel looks like it would fit over the speaker mount but only with a little trimming of the door panel. So I put them in, put the door panels on, and cranked up the volume-
THE 6.5s SOUND AWESOME!!!!!
Infinity speakers in the fronts... Polk 6.5s in the rear... and an alpine 240.4 to power them all. (60x4 wrms)
I encourage you all to go do the conversion!!!!
Good luck!

if you have questions... err- WHEN you have questions about my totally ill drawing, post them and we'll get everything cleared up.- :D

SMALL NOTE: WHEN YOU INSTALL THE ADAPTER KIT, IT WOULD BE GOOD IF YOU HAD ONE OF THOSE BAFFLES TO HOLD YOUR 6.5 INCH SPEAKER. THE BASS RESPONSE MIGHT BE BETTER AND YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO HEAR THE SOUND FROM OUTSIDE OF THE CAR.
(I played the stereo and walked around outside of mine and I could hear too much of the music inside... and NO- the windows weren't down and the sunroof was closed!)

You think the slightly larger 6.5s that fit in our rear deck would fit in the front like that as well, or do they have to be a regular sized 6.5? Reason I ask is i'd take my Kappa's out of the rear, and throw them up front with that adapter, if they'll fit. And then maybe just throw the stock speakers in the rear, for rear fill (for now) and sell the nice 4x6 plates... hmm... I've heard Kyle's system, and it's freakin nice! I think he has the Polk components up front too.

Justin-
You can drop in your rear speakers into those adapters.
If they're too big- just dremel a lil and you'll be ok.
But yeah- definitely move those nice ones to the front Justin- and sell those 4x6 speakers.
Good idea on the rear fill.

Do you think i'd have any issues running the stock rears off of a 50x4 Pioneer deck, also using the factory amps? I doubt it'll hurt the stockers, but i'm not sure? I would be playing it pretty loud :D

I don't know what will happen.
If they sound ok right now- they should sound ok after you do the musical chairs with the speakers.
The factory speakers will sound decent with that much wattage pushing it. I'm sure you'll be surprised at how hard you can push them.
Here's an idea- if you want to save yourself some trouble, mount your speakers from the bottom of the rear deck so that next time u won't have to pull the seat and everything. You may have a hard time fitting it flush- however, they're just factory speakers.
good idea? bad idea??

the bracket will work- i'm 99% sure just because i know the speaker/brackets will fit each other- just a matter of putting the bracket to your door.
good luck bud.

I just called Best Buy and they have the bracket .. with post pics if I do it.

Any chance someone can post "before/after" pics of the required trimming on the door panel?
Also, are these adapters made to fit 6.5" or 6.75" speakers without modification?

uhh...This is an old topic, but I'll reply anyways. 6.75s won't fit. I tried, they won't. But I'm putting in Infinity Kappa 60.5cs components (once I get them) in the front, and I'm sure they'll sound amazing. I just don't know where to put those crossovers.
