How easy is an oil pan gasket replacement? What are the steps involved? Drain the engine, drop the pan, clean the pan and block, replace the gasket?

yikes, i looking in my hanyes and its much more than that. buy a hanyes manual if you are going to do this. you need to remove the downpipe, crank pulley, engine mount, and expose the flywheel

I thought I lost my manual, but I found it last night. What do I need to do to the engine mount? It sounds like I have to pry it out of the way or something. What tools do I need to complete this job? I've just got a ratchet set, a torque wrench, a hydraulic floor jack, and 4 jack stands.

just read the manual, it will tell you all the steps and you can decide.

ive taken the oil pan off of a 94 sl1. you have to take off all kinds of stuff, and turn the oil pan just right to get it out from under the car. i didnt use regular rtv, but used the gray stuff from the saturn place. there is more to it than the book says...

Ok, what is 'regular rtv', and do you know what steps were not listed in the manual. This info would be most helpful. Thanks.

RTV = Room Temperature Vulcanization, or basicly, gasket in a tube. saturn sells it, or you can pick it up at any auto store. i use Permatex Ultra Black Gasket Maker (PN 598B or 598BR) be sure you get the sensor safe stuff.
