why would they be outlawed anyway?

they are retarded

So then by that logic should mentally disabled people be outlawed too?

No need to answer, pure rhetoric. I would however, apppreciate a more civilized response to the question as I am curious, with the point of whether people like them or not being moot.

Wrong forum again, but while im here.....

Why they would be outlawed is so police have another reason to pull over thugs and young punks (who else has spinners? Nobody I've ever seen!). I DISAGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY!!!

I agree with that 110%.. They just need more donations for the donut
foundation. Maybe if your starring at them for an hour while your driving
and you end up smacking a tree or another car.. But hey, who doesnt
want the attention?? I want to get the new DUB "Floaters" where the
wheel appears to not move at all while the cars in motion, those should
make people call a psyciatrist because they thing theyre seeing things..
Too bad they start at 22 inches, so id need a big SUV First :disappoin

Why do people pay attention to spinners while they're driving anyways??? I kinda like'em depending what kind of car they're on. I like them on Escalades but not on Accords. I have actually seen that. But a friend of mine got those spinner hub caps for his Saturn SL and he gets some pretty wierd looks.

I don't like spinners personaly, but I have a problem as to why they would be illegal.

The arguement that "distractions should be outlawed" are hypocritical and downright invalid when made by the same lawmakers that have no problem benefiting from other distractions on the road. The very purpose of billboards and various other retail/service signs and advertisements that flood any busy street are TO GET YOUR ATTENTION. So if your attention is where it should be as far as these companies are concerned, then you are not paying attention to the road, instead you are reading about:

- 2 for 1 taco deals on tuesday
- Having a party spontaneously as soon as you open a beer
- the biggest blockbuster of the summer

I can go on for days. Our streets are littered like our inboxes full of street spam that is designed with the sole intent of taking your eyes off the road. Looking at a billboard is only different from looking at a rim in that your local idiots in suits and ties don't benefit the same from you looking at rims as they do with you thinking...damn I should go buy a watch.

i dont think they should be outlawed but they are EXTREMELY out of style! they were aight at the begining but now they got those ugly ass spinning hubcaps, and i seen that shit on a ugly ass grey van!... yup its time to lay spinners to rest but not outlaw them.

i dont like spinners... when they first came out, they were ok.. i thought "thats pretty neat" then everyone started getting them, and now they are just annoying... the whole point of them were to be differnt... which they are now not

i can only think of one reason... but it doesnt seem like a good enough reason to be "banned"... sometimes cops judge if a car comes to a complete stop by seeing if the cars wheels stop spinning... if they have spinners it doesnt allow them to see if they made a complete stop

i know thats stupid but it is a better reason than "spinners are retarted" imo at least

i cant think of any other reason than that...

:iagree:

Cliff notes: Banning spinners is another way for town revenue to be increased in an attempt for the government to control us all.

FWIW, I personally don't like them and would never put them on my car as anything onther than a short term joke.

depending on the car they're fine. on most SUV's they're cool, but on old rusting out buicks and caddy's they look like shit. either way i don't think they should be outlawed...they're not doing any harm plus you can hardly tell if somebody has them when their car is moving

All in all, I think they're horridly trendy and pretty much just stupid. I believe whole heartedly in the "function before form" motto, anyway, so that might have something to do with it. Dumping a grand on rims that weigh a TON is just friggin stupid to me.

However...those spinner hub caps...that's so amazingly funny...now THAT is awesome. Makes me wish my beater didn't have rim rims on it. It's cool if you have a stupid car that you can really just have fun with...no hopes of it ever being fast or nice, so you fuck with it...and you put spinner hub caps on it. It's like you're poking fun at all the other trendy dorks.

But...should they be outlawed? Hell no.

to me, spinners used to be cool, but now they are just kind of a status symbol (that is if you have them on an escalade and not some piece of crap where the wheel is more than the car).

i was thinking about buying some of those spinner hubcaps for my beater car. but then again, i don't want to drop $50 on the beater. all money must go to the z.

They are just plain silly. I tend to agree that this will likely be a short-lived fad, but then again there are still those who SMOTHER their vehicles with TONS of GOLD AND SILVER because of the "Bling-Bling" (God, I hate that stupid term) factor!

But then again, I could be wrong. After all, "Dey be helpin' Da pick up Dem BEEEE-ACH's!!!"

Very True!!

These things kind of lost their originality when they were mass produced and cast out of plastic! Available at your nearest Schucks or Napa... heck even Wal-Mart has 'em!

To me, plastic spinners are sort of akin to a wanna-be white bread rapper that STILL wears parachute pants and gold chains like M.C. (er...) Hammer, and blares Sir-Mix-A-Lot "Baby Got Back" thinking he's the coolest shit in town (nothing wrong with that song mind you, but it's been BLARED enough. We've all heard it before. For the slow: It doesn't help you score chicks.)

Ok, I'll shut up now. I feel like I'm kicking a blind Chihuahua! :)

As far as you question, perhaps the forum pops up with a new message notice even if somebody edits an existing post?
