nice car
you gonna put a few ponies on that beast or what? :naughty:
First off is handling.
the stock rear shocks are getting soft, so I see a set of Koni's in the near future.
for some reason this little thing has crazy body roll.. or atleast more than I am comfortable with. so I'll get Racing Beat suspension kit (or atleast springs)
for power. Racing Beat header and cat-back.
Later, maybe this winter I'll take it apart, port the shit out of the head, and rebuild with paeco cams.
The suspension is the most important thing for me.. I have plenty of power in my other cars. I am still researching which exact suspension components/tires/wheels to actually buy. I'll keep you all posted.

Awesome. It's always cool to see a woman that works on her own cars.(Meant in a good way)
And it pisses me off to see the assholes at an oil change place feeding bullshit to a person that has no clue what the guy is talking about.
Nice looking car too. :bigthumb:

. But still loving the car, ESPECIALLY the colour combination.
I knew you were gay!!
Iv driven one, and well like Dayna said it was all soft and had lots of body roll.
MX5s are like MGBs, sprots cars for people who don't like cars, or motorsports, or sports, or anything that woud involve action or excitment or skill.
That said, Iv been to a track day where an old (im talking mid 70s old) couple showed up in a stock looking MX5 that was just a little lowered.
They got out thier matching fire suits, put thier matching gloves and helmets on, then procced to run laps of the track several seconds faster than several Lotus Elise's. :uhoh:
It turned out the only thing standard about the car was the body, and even that had been strengthened and braced. The engine was turbo'd, and the suspension had been completly rebuilt. The couple also lived next door to the track, and spent at least one day a week just running lap after lap.
MX5s certianly have lots of potential, but given the cost of liberating it why not just buy a fast car in the first place and then improve that to levels the MX5 will never reach.

Thats your opinion, one I do not agree with. What is a sports car that does involve "action, excitment or skill"? Certainly not a 1989 prelude.
I wanted a rear drive, lightweight convertible and thats what I got.
Like I said before, the suspension is the most important thing for me. I have plenty of power in my other cars.
"Racing Beat has refined 30 years of racing experience and undisputed successes into the design of our Miata suspension components. From a MotorTrend Magazine (RB 1990 Miata, June, 1993) all-time slalom record (73.6 MPH) to a Sport Compact Car (RB 1999 Miata ) skidpad record (1.1g), "
It wont that that much money for the level I want to reach.

Where do you get all this money for cars? :eek7:
I want that job.
My money comes from my full time job and my boyfriend. We buy a lot of cars really cheap, fix them, then sell them for a lot more. Like my widebody rx-7, we paid $200 for it, fixed it up using spare parts we had laying around the shop, and sold it for $4250.
We also live in a 700 square foot apartment that we pay $500 a month for. Its enough for two people, and when we are ready to settle down and have kids, we will buy a house with a lot more room.
So you can have my job if you want, you just have to have sex with a man.

Well... I dont see the point in bashing your car at all. I happen to love miata's, and with the suspension setup you have planned, it should make for a very fun track car. Great purchase dayna! Im not to big on the interior color scheme, but the exterior is a very nice hue. I think if you went for a darker color on the interior, some nice Bronze/Gold rims would go just fine. Nice car! Congrat's on the new purchase, :sunglasse

according to handling skid pad data both cars pull a .88 on the skid pad..
but there is a completely different feel to the Miata. the car is a few hundred pounds lighter accel and decel is better. turn in is way better, transistions in the car are a different world over the 240.

I'm gonna have to go an disagree with the bashing as well. Miatas have always been afoordable good convertables and I can fit in every generation of them as a 6'1 Male comfortably.Right now, I'm seriosuly pondering why Mazda never put rotary engines in any of them. I mean the size is fucking <perfect> and they had most of the kinks out of it by 1990.I guess too many Americans would find it "Un" American - You know what I mean? I guess I'm still talking about this caus I'm pretty fucking stoned...oh well there goes treatment...shit. Well, at least I'm NOT drunk. :screwy:

hmmm.... 50:50 weight distribution, Rear Wheel Drive, light as fuck I don't see where it fails to be a Sports car. I haven't driven one and don't really want to (Because the car is so poofy looking), but considering the imitations such as the Peugeot 206CC and Daihatsu Copen, I think it's as sporty as a sub NZ$50,000 roadster is going to come.
