Typically they run low 13's, but they can break into 12's with a good driver. Their best claim is their ability to make so much more power and go so much faster with just a little bit of money inested. But then so can an EVO or STi. The GTR has a much more advanced drivetrain than either of those. No they're not the end-all god car like some people think, but they are damn good cars...

yeah it makes sense now that i think about it. the gto mr ran a 12.7 simply because it was lighter then the regular vr4's and came with 13b's i beleive.

But, anyhoo, I've got to throw in my one usually controversial statement about Skylines - Skyline GTR's are very impressive cars with a durable as hell engine and lots of potential. But taken off the dealer lot they're prey to more traditional sports cars like the Corvette Z06, Viper GTS coupe, and the Porsche 911 Turbo. Their mystique is more in their unattainability rather than their outright performance.

While the GTR's are good performers (ten tons of stick in the chassis, good grunt throughout the rev range, good braking for a car of its size) it's really out of its depth in serious competition with the world's finest. You need look no further than the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring where Falken always brings its R34. While the car acquits itself nicely, it still proves overwhelmed by more nimble sports cars that don't have to share a chassis platform with a range of touring coupes and sedans.

And, for my money, the cost of buying and tuning a Skyline GTR into what I'd want the car to do would be better spent just buying a Mosler MT900 Photon.
