Long time reader-- First time poster--- I am going to tackle front brakes on my 2000 windstar. Any words of wisdom, and are they easy? Do I need any special tools? Also i have a thudding noise coming from front passenger side when i hit a bump or hole in the road. Any thought as to ahat this may be?? Thanks for your help.

The thudding you will find the answer throughout the forum under Windstar sounds/thudding etc.. It's most likely making the sound when stopping and starting as well?? It's likely the same as my 96'Windstar, caused by a bushing that needs to be reset in the subframe and tack welded into place. Front brake pads were a snap for someone who hadn't done it before.. but for safety sakes maybe take it in to a reputable location to replace. I grappled myself about 8 mths back and just needed to compress the caliper with a C-clamp being careful not to mar or scratch the surface and watch your brake fluid resevoir to top up if required afterwards. Pop in place and was finished in less then two hours.. Been good ever since except that fluid levell and brake light sensorABS and emergency brake lites on..but fixed with readingt he forum and topped up the resevoir.. "BAM".. works like a charm!
