Well, the stats for the VTEC prelude are worse than the TypeSH:

2001 Prelude TypeSH: curb weight 3042 lbs, 200 hp, 156 ftlbs., 0-60 7.2sec, max hp @ 7000 rpm, max torque @ 5250 rpm

1998 Prelude VTEC: curb weight 2932 lbs, 190 hp, 158 ftlbs, max hp @ 6800 rpm, max torque @ 5500rpm.

It might weigh a few pounds less, but it has 10 less hp. And if you're comparing a '98 prelude with a '02 RSX, I think the wear on the prelude will give it less hp.

Two equal drivers don't race against each other, but I'm just saying that if you took the prelude and ran it against a time trial and then you got in an RSX and ran it, you would definitely see a difference in times. Favoring the RSX, of course. You shouldn't measure a car's performance based on different drivers since that will always vary, but rather as if you sat in the seat of both cars.

As to a prelude taking an RSX with different drivers in the seats, that is always possible. Both cars are very close in performance with the RSX leading by a bit. If a driver in the RSX doesn't know how to drive as well compared to that of the driver in the prelude, I would always give it to the prelude.

The first twin cam vtecs cars came in the 80's with the b16, followed by the 91 NSX, NOT the Prelude. You swear that the Prelude is the innovator of all things that are good.

Prelude VTEC is to RSX-S = 200hp

Also, the JDM K20A Type-R Motor is BETTER, than the JDM h22 type-S in many aspects, with the TORQUE, almost the SAME.

Ok Guys, lets take a moment to evaluate this post.

The fact that the K20 was a six speed was only a factual statement, it was not part of my proposal to prove that it is in fact better. Which brings me to my next point. The fact that a car has more gears would most likely mean that each gear has a shorter ratio. By shortening the ratio, you have made it easier for the car to acccelerate; as we all know, longer gears are never in ANY case better for acceleration. If in fact having less gears; longer ratios, are better, why don't we all drive 3 speeds? In any case, remove this from the equation, you seem to view it as irrelevant anyway.

I never evaluated any car out of its proper counterpart. I would never compare an Si lude to a RSX-S; but only in their respective categories. Si lude to Base RSX. VTEC/Base Lude to RSX-S, and Type-S Lude to Type-R RSX/Integra. It is YOU that mixes and matches cars from different horsepower categories, in order to give the Prelude an unfavorable advantage.

You can also easily buy an type-r k20; in fact the same place you would get your type-s h22, example being hmotorsonline. There is in fact a vast aftermarket for the type-r k20, because you have to remember, its still your basic k20 head, and k20 block, just with different valvetrain; With the k-series now being available in almost all new generation Hondas, it is bound to have the aftermarket bigger than that of the B-Series; which already, outnumbers that of the H-Series by many times.

Now when you talk about "Acura's best car"; You do realize that Acura is in fact not a company itself, but only a division of HONDA, the dear makers of YOUR PRELUDE.

You seem to love bringing up the old topic of torque. Sure, the JDM H22 Type-S has a couple more lbs/ft than the JDM K20 Type-R. But you have to put into consideration the torque multiplication factor. You keep saying the lude would pull away in the long run, but it is in fact the rsx that would, due to this very factor. This is why our cars are able to take out V6 Camaros, which nearly double our peak Torque, but with low torque multiplication factor.

Don't bring ricers into this equation, it was never part of it to begin with.

A - Speed isn't everything, there's luxury and handling in the RSX.
B - The K20A has a bigger market than the H22A
C - Gear ratios of the shorer shifter 6 speed make a difference
D - If the lude is SO good how come in the few years the RSX has been out it has surpassed it in aftermarket support
E - Sure it has a few more pounds of torque, but that only helps in the short term, horsepower is the one that keeps you going.
F - The Prelude has to get over its weight penalty
G - Read the above post before you post a single thing then use proper english so I can understand what the hell you are saying (as wrong as it is) and learn about cars. Then post.

OK, since you believe longer ratios are the way to go, why don't we all start our cars in 5th gear, being the longest ratio in our car. How fast does your car feel now? How much faster are you accelerating, with your long ratio gear? Quite slow, i'd assume. The RSX btw, does NOT top off 6th gear at 90mph. Having that type of ratio would render basically any car undrivable in any given situation.

I also have respect for my lude, why do you think i drive one? I would've gotten rid of it by now if I "hate" it as you push other people to believe; and never once did i mention that it was heavy and slow. I'm just stating the bare, unadultered facts. And you are in fact wrong about our car's responding better to mods, it is in fact that RSX (K-Series) that has had the best modification response to date. When did you ever hear about an H-Series motor gaining 20whp from a simple CAI? Never. But a K20 will.

Never did I once mention that it was "hard" to find parts for an h22. My statement was that the K series market will in fact become more vast than that of the H series.

I personally, would pick a K24block/k20type-r head swap in a hatchback. The K-series is lighter than a b16; which in itself, is lighter than an h22, while putting out about the same, if not more hp as a jdm type-s h22, while definitely putting out way more torque.

I again will restate, I have respect for my lude, and I was already aware that it is one of the fastest daily drivable cars that Honda has to offer, you just need to realize that the Prelude is not the end-all to Honda street performance.

The Prelude has extremely strong points, but the RSX only minorly edges it out, thats i'll i've been trying to get through your head in this whole thread. do u really think that a prelude is faster than a supra stock? do you think that the cars in the video were stock??? when was the last time you saw a 200hp prelude beat a 320hp supra tt??? the 3000gt could have easily been an sl which only has 222hp fwd and weighs something like 3400 (not quite sure but its arround there)

a couple pages back you were talking about your massive torque.... when was 156ft lbs massive?? lol sorry but that is laghable... a 1990 mr2 has 200 ft lbs.. so dont talk your, "my car is ten years older" crap

like he said... how do u know it was even racing you? plus if it was an n/a then it only has 130hp... it would be a shame if it beat u... if it was turbo on the other hand... 200hp 200ft lbs weight ~2600 plus rwd... i would be very hesitant to call an mr2 slow especially with their tuning abuility
