jerky operation after starting when engine is slightly warm

When the dash temperature gauge reads around 160°F (engine has cooled down somewhat after shut down, but not cold) and the engine is started, the car idle is unstable and tends to hesitate and then lunge for a few seconds when accelerating. I've had this problem since it was new in 2000 but could never duplicate the problem for the dealer. It also seems to be at certain times of the year, but I can never seem to narrow it down to when! Has anyone else ever had this problem? It never happens when the engine is cold or hot, only when lukewarm. :screwy:

I have a 2000 Impala LS - I bought mine used though. It had the same problem. I took it to a mechanic and one of the pistons was misfiring. He did a tune-up and now no matter what season it starts and runs fine.

Just my :2cents:

I have a 2000 that does the exact same thing. Mine I bought used and was a gm buy back from the original owner. I also did a tuneup but this did not fix the problem.

Thanks, Shadow, I've been offline for a while. I haven't had the problem enough to do anything about it, so I just put up with it occasionally whenever it happens. Take care.
