I want to replace the middle bench seat in my van with two captains chairs. I can see where the seat would attach on the passenger side of the van. There are removeable covers. But I don't see anything on the driver's side. Are there mounts under the carpet? I felt around and I think I feel a depression where the mount would be. Has anyone done this before?
Thanks
Thanks

Rginter,
You are absolutely correct in that you feel the depression for the captain chair anchor points. I did exactly what you are planning on doing a while back. I cut out the sections of carpeting around the anchor points with a utility knife. If I recall correctly, I think I had to cut out a total of four openings (two on each side). After that, the captain chairs dropped right in. The captain chairs are _WAY_ better than the middle bench seat. However, you will need to get a set belt retractor assembly for the passenger side and the bolt that secures the anchor end to the floor. If you look at the two seats, you'll notice that the anchor point on the old bench seat is on the seat itself (for the passenger side only). The captain chair has no such attachment; it anchors to the floor via a bolt. Look at the existing setup on the driver's side and you'll see what I mean. The retractor assembly ran about $90-100. There is already a hole in the floor for the new anchor point - just screw the bolt in and tighten down with a rachet.
Hope this helps!
Thanks
