Misfire

Ok, I am a Toyota technician looking fot a little help with my dads 1996 SL2 with 130K on it. I have a misfire on #1. I have swapped plugs, wires, injectors and coils. Compression is good. I am leaning towards a valve sticking or valve spring problem. I have talked to a few machine shops, and they said that it is a relatively common problem.
About 5 years or so ago we had a similar problem, and the Saturn dealer pulled the head and replaced the valves. That didn't fix the problem at the time (it had a bad coil). That was about 50-60K ago.
Anyone have any ideas? Am I barking up the wrong tree??????
