Getting my 98 Windstar Running Again

I've got a 98 Ford Windstar and have had it since late 99. The van has run like a champ until recently. Although the Check Engine light and door adjar lights have been coming on lately (and the dome light stays on, which according to a lot of posts is a common occurence) I have not had any problems until last Friday night. I was coming home from work (about a 2 mile drive) my van began to sputter and stall. I managed to 'limp home' and the van died in my driveway (about 3 blocks). I've done some trouble-shooting (with the help of my handy-dandy Haynes guide) and have replaced the fuel pump and Iddle Air Control valve. Now, since the dome light stayed on, my battery is dead. I can't get it back to running again. I may have to 'prime the well' so to speak, but don't know how since i'm limited in my ability with fuel injection. Any help would be appreciated.

The fuel system is self-priming. If there is enough fuel in the tank, you need to do nothing other than turn it over for 5-10 seconds until the new pump can build pressure.

Being a '98, I would be suspicious of the battery's condition, ESPECIALLY since it was drained to dead.

I suggest (if you are completely comfortable with it) jump starting it, or better yet, replacing the dead batery with a known good one.

I had the problems with the dome light. If it has been happening for awhile replace the battery and spray WD40 in the door catches, 2 on the sliding door and 2 on the rear. I had to spray mine several times to get the sensors to start working right.

As for your rough running check the vacume hoe to PCV. Mine had a small leak and mad it idle rough nad sometimes stall. If so replace the hose.
