Whats the highest you have ever pushed a motor? honda or not.

Highest I'v pushed my civic (d15) is about 6500rpm... I dont ever get on it... whats the point its not going to impress anything :)

But I'v pushed my AMC Gremlin to 9500rpm. Gotta love strait 6's.

I'm intested to know if anyone here has hit 10,000rpm

13,500 on my old bike, does that count? It's 4 banger too & only 900cc producing more power than my ZC sohc mildly tuned, LMAO.

Hmm.. Around 8,200 daily and one time around 9,500+.. Damn.
I was @ 8000 in 3rd, and instead of 4th I somehow wiggled it into 2nd when learning how to drive standard. Didn't really wreck anything serious, just a new set of LMAs.

7000 on my d15b2

I have seen my d15b2 at 7200RPM, with an aftermarket rpm gauge. It's weird, does anyone know why the car will rev out more sometimes, and less other times?

My old CRX 90 SI would Rev an easy 8500, but my CRX with the ZC will only do about 7500....

i got my D15b2 to hit 7200 :ylsuper: ...i wouldn't push it more than that. i thought the rev limiter was at like 6800...idk (i have never hit a rev limiter, its like not there) :dunno:
after that it left a big cloud of smoke from all the burning oil... :banghead: :loser:

you got your chev up to 10k?....v8....the onyl v8's that og that high are the $100k indy motors dude. Unless you misshifted fromt he top of 5th to first, theres no way in hell youd get it to 10k, and if you did, you wouldnt have a motor anymore. Its a struggle to get our hondas up to 10k, much less a big block chevy.

Yeah gut tells me to call BS on that one also. Inline 6's and 4's are the highest reving motors there are and its pushing it to get most of them to 8500.

Get one of those cheap chips that removes your limiter.

PunkAlex
06-07-2004, 09:57 PM
after you chip it to remove the limiter, you get an adjustable ignition rev limiter, i think msd makes one

90civicracer

I've never touched my rev limiter...i just make sure to shift before. However I hvaen't really gone high up in the rpm's for a while.

ive hit 6800 with my d15b2 which was by accident and its when my revv limiter hit
and i think 6500 with my 3.0 v6 probe (which was where it shifted)

I went to shift to 3rd the other day and accidentally went to 1st at like 35 and spun like crazy and just took off, dont know how high i hit then.

Hilikus Funkin
06-08-2004, 12:19 AM
o yeah and in the thunderbird ive hit like 4600 lol. That was a 4th to 2nd shift (auto)

Just got my CRX, havnt pushed it yet...

But Ive hit the rev limiter on my old BMW 318i twice... Scary feeling, not sure if u blew it or if the limiter caught it cuz it just like stops for a few seconds... :icon16:

I hit 7200 sometimes, but usually it cuts fuel at 7000, thats so damn high so, and with my D15B2, it sounds like a whiney bitch. Wish I had an a6 or a y8, give it more of a growl than a whine.

I edit and burn my own roms for my ECU. I can set my rev limit to whatever i want, but i dont take my stock z6 valve train past 7800. My 59300 cam makes power a little higher than stock, and i want to drop back into full spool & VTEC a little higher into the next gear so i take it to 7800.

B18 to 7200

turtlecrxsi
06-08-2004, 03:30 PM
I was just wondering... I finally broke in my new Exedy clutch and I've been revving up further and further (near limiter) and my d16a6 has stock internals (#2) and I hit like 6800-7000 and it caught so hard that the whole car sorta popped. There was even a popping sound. WTF? Needless to say I was hauling ass afterwards. Oh yeah, are rev limits different for different gears? I only ask cuz it seems like I've hit them at different times with my old built motor. And hell my tach is "lazy" so I don't know if I used to hit with any sort of accuracy, I just know I've hit that damn limiter a few times... usually cuz my foot slips off the damn clutch. :banghead:

when you build a motor you should set your limits less in 3rd 4th and 5th because you will be in the gear longer than 1st and 2nd you might want to have 2 seperate limiters if that is possible

Im sorry, but you need to have some respect to your reliable d series engines.there is no reason that you should be taking your stock ass motor up that high with the stock valvetrain.I love this forum but I personally think that people that rev their engine that high are just plain stupid.Again I apoligize if I hurt anybodys feelings.Honda knows what their doing respect the redline.maybe you got away with getting that high, but when the time comes and your shit brakes, remember this topic.

I once reved +8,000rpm once in my D16a6, but it was purely accidental, I accidently shifted from 5th to 2nd going about 70mph on the freeway and the tach went past the 8 on my tach. Nothing happened to the motor but I sure pooped out a nice black cloud out of my exhaust lol.

Masta
06-09-2004, 07:15 AM
are you guys looking at the stock tach or an aftermarket one? On my stock tach it'll say 8,000 but on my aftermarket one, it'll say 7,200.

turtlecrxsi
06-09-2004, 08:26 AM
I went to 7200 yesterday in 3rd gear, shifted to 4th at 65-70mph (gotta keep my eyes on the road)... no pop, no black cloud. If it blows it blows... I'm gonna have fun regardless... LOL

i dont even have a honda yet, so yeah im not revvin anything, but i have taken my camry up to who knows (its an auto and theres no tach)...there is a rev limiter on autos, right??

9,500 Rpms on first gear.
My brother was driving my car, and he was like damn! this shit is pulling, and he was going at 9,500 rpms.

I've never taken my a6 past 6,7000rpm, but once when I first got my car, I let my uncle drive it and he reved it out to 7000+ and then I told him to get the hell out of my car.

My friend has a 94 del sol VTEC with all skunk2 valvetrain and zex stage 2 cams in his b16... i burned him a rom with a 10,200 rpm rev limiter, but he revs it to around 9800 on a daily basis.

unless its totally abnormal revs (like 8500 on a d series), its the valvetrain that limits revs, not the bottom end. a spring retainer will break before you will throw a rod, but if that happens, especially at high rpm, most likely you will drop a valve into the cylinder which instantly means death for your engine.

If I were to take my car (sohc zc, Si tranny) to 7200 rpm's in 3rd gear I know I would be doing faster than 65-70, it'd be more like 80-84 I think. Don't know for sure, haven't tried doing that.

Not allways, I dropped a valve once and it didnt mess up anything terably bad, just had to put a new piston in and hone the cyl a little. Also managed to brake a set of rings inside the cyl once on that car and they dropped into the oil pan. We never figured out how that happend, but the motor got bored over that time and new pistion again (same one #4).

civicracer90 - I was on 55mph road and got ticket for doing that over a year ago... Kharma should never be messed with... I let my foot off the gas and shifted from 4th to 5th without even taking 4th... I may have gotten 4th passed 90mph or faster if I did, but I have worn tires...
