Crankshaft postion sensor

My 1997 sl2 turns over but will not start. I called the Saturn dealership and they said it was either the fuel pump or the crankshaft position sensor. I had the fuel pump checked earlier; it was ok. Where is the crankshaft position sensor? Is the crankshaft sensor something that I can replace on my own or do I have to take it in? Has any one heard of this problem before?

i can't confirm that the crankshaft position sensor is the problem, it could be a number of other things, i would have to look at the car to tell. the sensor shouldn't be changed with out some auto expience. not because it hard to change the sensor, but because its real hard to get to. if i remember correctly, the easyest way is to jack the car up about a foot in the air and attack it from behind and underneth. its placed under the intake manifold near the starter. if you decide to do it your self, it best to go to the auto store and pick up a Haynes manual for $20. again, i do not sugest doing this your self if you don't have some automotive background, its dangerous to get under a jacked car, and there is several things down there that are VERY HOT.
