I posted a while back about my shift indicator display and radio display being off in the daytime. There are many more problems as well, BRAKE light stays on all the time, no high beam indicator on the dash at night, can't get to menu on radio to reset oil change, etc, red LED on radio stays on all the time, have lost some of the messages that used to show up on the message center (Door Ajar, Trunk Lid Open) no seat belt not fastened light or tone.
Some of my research indicated it could be the keyswitch. Was told to check the ignition voltages at the connectors on the BCM. Obtained a pinout of the connectors and checked all battery voltages and switched ignition voltages at the BCM with the car running, all read within hundreths of battery voltages, no problem there.
I can get to the BCM and remove it in about 3 minutes or less. I have found sources to buy replacement BCM's but changing it out myself seems to be wasted time and money since a bunch of info has to be programmed into the new unit that it appears only the dealer can do.
What info does a new BCM need to know? VIN #, milage, RPO codes? Anything else? Is there a source to buy preprogrammed BCM's if they are given the needed info?
I'm pulling my hair out here. I'm out of warranty and have to get inspected. Not gonna pass with the BRAKE light on, oh and the air bag light stays on all the time too.
What do I do??
