Well Mike it's coming together really well. I love it ,seriously it looks great. I was also wondering if you know how to chop a 63-64 riviera 2 door model car? or a website if possible.
Keep up the great work it's gonna look hot when done.

Thanks. The technique is usually the same with almost any model, you could look at my tutorial for an idea. Also try searching the internet for Mark Gustavson, I read how to chop a 40 coupe a couple months ago, and remembered most of it.

Every hot rod has lines from all different cars, Boydsters have lines of '32s.
My plans had changed a lot from what I originally sketched out (if I can find the sketch I'll post it) to what is going on now.

UPDATES:
Its been awhile since an update, I've been busy with the Ace as well as work.
I have sectioned it and filled in the back window to cut out a replacement instead. I have also reshaped the trunk by hand with some 100grit sand paper so it flows real smoothly.

UPDATES:
Its been resurected. Finally, two months later I began work on it again. Im one of those people that cannot work with plastic to save my life, I'd much rather make something out of metal. I find metal much softer, and easier to shape than plastic. After talking to willimo, he inspired me to once again work on it.
The very reason why I set the project aside is what I complete today. I did not want to make the cowling for the hood...not one bit. I made templates, that were for templates, that I would trace onto styrene.
So anyway, its 2 layers of .030 styrene glued together. I need to epoxy putty it to the fenders for it to be nice, smooth and clean.

UPDATES:
Welp...got pissed off that things with the body were not lining up, turns out the kit was somewhat warped so nothing would align. Therefore I took the extreme route, and cut the floor board out completely. I figured I'd just make the body all one piece since that seems to frustrate me the most. So I've glued, and puttied up the body, and I have the floor board drop in and out.
I also sanded of all the little stupid "structural" marks on the floor board.

And you wonder why it was warped.....
Looks good. It's comin' together real nice. I think cutting the floor out was a reasonable idea, but I also think you'll have some trouble painting the firewall and inside of the engine bay (those comments are unrelated). Have you thought about not cutting out a rear window at all? No one said customs had to be sensible, and it might add more weight to the already heavy look this thing has.
What colors are you thinkin' about? (j/k)

http://mike.nwwo.com/'37%20Hot%20Rod/IV/DSCF0037.JPG
Notice the engine mounts on the stock frame, cheapo. I'll be building some new better looking engine mounts.
http://mike.nwwo.com/'37%20Hot%20Rod/IV/DSCF0038.JPG
Put strip styrene on the cylinder heads so the valve covers would stay during mock-up.
The engine will be pretty different from the stock one. I will be converting it to fuel injected. I've been trying to work on my new intake manifold, but thats not been very fun. The motor sits way to low on the stock frame.

Well, I have been at work on the body since the chassis has to be rebuilt (one hole was out of alignment causing a piece to be at an angle). I got some new putty over the weekend as well, and a new drill press thanks to Harbor Freight and my grandpa (hopefully I can go back over this weekend and get my lathe :( )
Anyway, extending fronts of the front fenders and reshaping, reshaping rear, well all the windows, and I think thats about it.

Here are some updates. I decided to use this '37 to model my 1/6, well what the 1/6 should look like. Its going to require some intensive modifications: Headlights cut out and filled in, replaced with 1940 Ford or Mini Cooper headlights in the fenders, vertical section to shorten wheel base and distance behind door (5 window to a 3 window), Convertable, scratchbuilt interior, heavily modified roof, scratchbuilt hood, scratchbuilt grill, and a scratchbuilt chassis.
This thing has more cuts than...than a thing with a lot of cuts? :icon16:Heres a list of the mods so far...in fact I dont think theres much that hasnt been modified, if anything.
Section
Chop Top
Vertical Section at the fenders to make them longer and flowing
Scratchbuilt side panels
Custom fenders
Custom running boards
Convertable
Vertical Section II behind the door
Filled in headlights (in progress)
New Headlights in the fenders (in progress)

reshaped rear fenders (in progress)
scratchbuilt chassis (in progress)
new windscreen frame (in progress)
modified roof (in progress)

Theres actually not much sanding involved. Its pretty smooth, and the cuts line up well. Just ok? Whats wrong with it?
