Thats pitiful. Poor poor Corvette ppls...dont they know that they drive a GM aka Great Mistake? Now Im sure stock vs "stock" (since the "stock" vette has gears and a little more breathing room), ya the "fastest" fairly common Corvette made today would walk off and leave a heavy stock Mustang.

This is my favorite quote.
"a mach 1 is not in the 12's unless your talking about a 03 or newer one......the 02ish ones are 305 hp....now I think they put a supercharger on a 03 and 04 or something that added major hp but if it's 02 or older it's not any faster than the gt really. I see them run 14's all the time."
This guy is totally clueless!!! LOL

Lmao! Thes guys are dumbfuckingmorons (To sum it all up) I have seen some FAST honda's too btw, shit I know of some not so stock not much left from honda except bodyparts honda's that run 9's that are totaly streetable and would walk all over a vett or stang, but you got to ask yourself... For the $50,000+ you have to put in it to make it badass, your still driving a damned civic. Also, A new Z06 runs like a high 12 to low 13, a new svt runs a mid 13 and costs about $20,000 less <--- Hmm... For $5000 you can eat him alive and still have a car that actualy looks good :)

Who was that comedienne that said whenever she sees a guy in a Corvette she says "sorry about your penis"?
Reality though, "there is no replacement for displacement"
Got to figure that a stock 350 is going to have more power than a stock 302 or 281. GM has made a history of doing whatever it takes to make sure that happens. Hell, they put big blocks in stinking Novas.
What happens after that is up to the owner's desires and wallet.
History also shows GM makes a POS, whether it is a banana slug Camaro, a Guidoized Firebird or a plastic rattle trap like a Corvette (who designs those GM beasts?).
For me, it's hard to beat the retro-style of a ragtop Mustang. I don't need to go that fast, just need room for a cooler in the backseat, two golf bags in the trunk and the Colorado sun.

Actually the new SVT should run mid to high 12's and it costs $20,000 less.
But that that whole Forum was funny. Thier were a bunch of morons who know nothing but there were a few in there that were speaking the truth.... Also, A new Z06 runs like a high 12 to low 13,
If you're bad enough at driving to take a stock Z06 to 13's, you should be shot. A decent driver with a broken in Z06 should be able to coax low 12's @ 110 out of it, at the very least.

Yep, all those dumbass people were talking about how new 4.6's cant see 13's. Yet my buddies '01 GT just ran a 13.89 a few months ago when it was BONE STOCK.....funny stuff. And also how much do vette's cost? What 7,000 for say a 91? My stepdad bought his 89' for $2,000 and has put like $3,000 in there. It will SPANK a car that runs high 13's.

I don't think you want a $7000 corvette. A decent 91 will run you about $10,000. And at that price you will be replaceing stuff and your gonna take it in the rear everytime.

Not that they would ever beleive me on that site, but the other night, I was on the way home and noticed Vette headlights coming up fast. When he got to me (he had a passenger, I was alone) he slowed a little. Expecting he was going to take off and not really expecting to win I dropped to 2nd (@45 mph). When he heard me downshift he floored it and jumped out in front about a car length.........not only did I catch him, but I passed him to about a car and a half in front and stayed there untill I chickened out around 105mph. He never caught up and turned off. I was curious as to how I would have done from a start...waddya guys think?? :smokin:

What year vette was it or could you tell? Ya know I test drove a Z06 and I gotta tell you that is a fast S.O.B Of course you will pay for that fast S.O.B
What I don't like about GM products is that as they age you can tell by the way the interior starts to fall apart. Ive owned 2 Z28's and 2 Trans ams. They all had that rattle that just drove me nuts. Now having owned both GM and Ford I think fords are just put together a lot better. As far a speed goes like many here have said that all depends on how deep your pockets are. Vettes are fast but they are not undefeatable. You can get any year mustang to beat the crap out of a vette. All you need is the desire to do it and a wallet to back it up.

I would stay with 3.73's
302's have an exellent torqe curve so I don't really need all that gear. 3.73 give me plenty of fire out of the hole and I can still burn rice on the highway at will.
If I owned a 4.6 I would probably do 4.10's Mod motors cannot match the torque of the 302 so 4.10's sort of make up for that. Plus mod motors are smoother at higher Rpms and that is where they make power, 4.10's will put you there.

How much difference did the 3.73's make in acceleration? I've heard great things about them but nobody seems to give you a good idea about the effect. I will probably pick me up a set mid-July. The question is can i put them in or should i have them put in by a Mustang shop?

The difference between what I had (2.73) I believe, and 3.73 was HUGE. Without a doubt the best bolt on I put on. Its kind of hard to tell you in words but my response after they were put in was damn, you could literally feel the difference in the seat of your pants. The car really came alive off the line and in every gear really. Gears do the same thing the underdrive pulleys did, they just made it easier for the motor to move the car. Do them you won't be disappointed.
As far as doing them yourself I wouldn't advise it. There is a certain way they have to be put in and if you don't do it right you'll screw up your rear end. Leave it to the pros, if they don't get it right its their problem.

Right about what? Being a jack off? The average vette owner knows nothing about cars other than the fact that he knows his is fast. Nothing against vettes because they are very respectable rides. I just have a problem with the idiots that go out and buy them and think that there superman. Vettes don't own the road, there are plenty of rides out there that will smoke you.

Everyone gets caught up in the Mustang vs. Camaro thing but at least most people respect the other cars, and know something about the performance numbers before they assume that they will win a race. These idoits figure, I have a Vette, nothing can touch me. If it make you guys feel any better, they talk the same way about Camaros, and most of the time, we have the same drivetrain as they do!!!!

No I wouldn't admit it, but I think I'd quit being a jerk about having a better car to everyone else. Thats ok though they usually get theirs when they wreck that car made out of pure fiberglass. I know a T-bird can handle a wreck pretty good (due to the fact I have wrecked one) and a friend wrecked a stang it held together nicely well lets just say a vette wrecking aint pretty!

my buddy owns an 02 gt convertible with plenty of mods most importantly a vortech sq trim and 3.73s. his best time at the track was a 13.39@107 with a full tank of gas and crappy cold tires. now this was at bandimere speedway in colorado which is around 6000 feet.thats a pretty respectible time up here. hes spent around nine grand on his car which if you add it up its a lot less than a new vette. a few days ago, we pulled up next to brand spankin new z06. the driver was a middle-aged man with a very nice suit. the look that he gave us when he revved his motor was mean enough to make someone cry. we acknowledged his challenge and got ready for a race. i wont lie, when the light turned green he got the jump on us, but as soon as we hit second gear we started to pull him kinda hard. like i said, i wont lie. it was close but we won with more weight and a helluva lot less traction.

I'll admit most vette owners are cocky dickheads, at least the ones ive met. But Ive met just as many Fbody and Stang owners that were assholes too.
Every forum has its bashers...its old now, yet still typical.
As far as the Z06 (02+) goes, they do run low 12's stock, with ease.

not that it's recommended, but even a V6 stang can be modded to put out 400 rwhp, which is certainly sufficient for beating a vette. the funny thing is when vettes wizz by my V6 and think they've really done something, lol.
