my mk1.5 project

cool going man!
I need to put mine back together. Though it is going into a different chassis as my MK1.5 was seriously bent in the past. I am pretty certain I am going to use the old Krylon chassis. That only weighs in at 1600 pounds now without motor... so that should be pretty darn fast... hopefully...

I really like your mounts. I used MK2T mounts, but I think I am going to redo them, I don't like the way the engine moves around.

Did you ever have the car dynoed? any boost? 1/4 times?

the car's stats are what a mk2's would be with a j-spec engine on stock boost, open intake, 2.5" freeflowing exhaust.

haven't taken it to the drags yet, but did pretty consistent ~4.5 second 0-60 runs. (+/- .3seconds)

so finally i have some reprieve from school, and can post more updates/pictures!

first off, it now has a hood vent (much better cooling, and a little bit more downforce)

I recovered it with a leatherlike material... no paint.

Man, your car is starting to come together nicely! Are those brand new struts, or did you build coilovers out of your old struts?

Btw, I can tell from the colour that they're JDM, you've got good taste man, JDM coilevers are worth at least 50hp. Paint your hood black and you'll probably have the fastest import in AZ, so that'll mean faster than any domestic anywhere. :uhoh:

Finally ran a complete series on tuned suspension... now it just needs to go faster!

My roommate/codriver dominated SM2 NV1 for an overall class victory (twice taking 1st overall/event in NV1).

I drove the car to 2 SM2 Open 2nd place finishes and 1 1st, finishing 3 points out of trophy :(


next step: engine mods!!! and lighten the car some






ah yes, also got it weighed at an SCCA track event, the SCCA Official weight is: 2569 lbs

1117 front
1452 rear

that's with a full tank (-10 feet of driving) and me w/ all my racing gear

so, the car weighs exactly 2400 lbs (give or take a few ounces)

min weight for SM2 in my configuratin is 2100 lbs.... so i'm on the right track :D

I think you can run 15psi on 93 octane. You should turn up the boost. That should get you to 220 rwhp.

so, a quick update... won another series... but now I need a rebuild. spun bearing = sadness

well, it seems like the car is going to change some more... from the origonal doubling in HP, it will hopefully double again! and the car's diet has proven around 200lbs so far, we'll see where it ends up.

I took all the paneling out, took off the old fabric and reupholstered it. I'll actually be switching to a much more spartan interior in the very near future (at which point i'll be selling the red panels) PM me if you're interested.




Update: Work + school + other projects to sell = no time

however! the 2.2L stroker engine is done, now i just need the turbo kit + EMS :naughty:

2.2L stroker w/ forged internals: DONE
new fuel system: DONE
port/polished/honed head w/ oversized valves: DONE
AEM EMS/full electronic setup: ORDERED AND BEING DELIVERED

last step: GT2871r... which will be ordered as soon as they're back in stock :D


and after that, hopefully i'll be posting a 400whp dyno printout!

As posted here, The 1.5 project has been sold. The new owner has big plans for it, and hopefully the time that I no longer have to put into her.
