took out a kid at my shcool

So im sitting at school friday in 5th period and my freind is talking about this kids eclipse, he is saying that its got a small NOS kit (dont know what shot) and its piped and all other kinds of shit so right away im thinking he has alot of money and hes seen the F&F to many times. So since you guys got me hooked on racing when i took out an sti in one of my earler posts i think it is worth a go.

So after 6th period i walk out to my car and put some stuff away and my freind said he had an eclipse so i go and walk the parking lot and i find a red eclipse which looks stock on the outside except for the pipe and i ask the kid walking up to it "is this the eclipse with the small shot and a pipe" and he says yes so we start talking and i ask what he has under the hood and he pops it open he had an intake and the nos kit plus aftermarket headers and it was piped all the way back, so after were done talking he asks me about my ride and he has never seen it and he has never even heard about it so i walk across the lot and start my car up and pull it up next to his, his face looks suprised cause he thought i had an import and he asks what i got under the hood at this point im felling a little inflated so i say "wana to find out" and he just smiles and says "highland ave?" and i reply "why not" so we take off and i follow him out to highland springs ave there is no cars coming or going so we line up and i thought he didnt have his NOS tank filled, We decide to do a 3-2-1 from the window i start heating up the tires and all of a sudden i look over and from under the hood i see a little bit of white smoke come out and i stop my tires spinning and ask him if his tank is charged and he says yes i just got i filled that was the purge you were seeing and my jaw drops because ive never even seen a NOS powered car up close much less raced one, and he starts saying 3 so i take it up to 3k and he says 2 and i decide my last race went bad off the line cause i droped to high so i take it down to 2800 and he says 1-go and i take off like my tires are glued to the road and im thinking now this is the way to do the takeoffs i look back when i shift into second and he is about a car length back so i decide to take it easy on the motor and i shift at 4800 that was a bad idea cause when i looked back he was at my back window so i pre-appologize to my motor and wind here out to 6200 (which is beyond me maxrecommended RPM) and with all my regrets speed shit her into 4th and i start taking back some ground but i know since this is a close race he is going to unleash the bottle so once again i speed shift her at 6200 into 5th and mash the gas and i look back ive took about 1 and a half car lengths so i just hold her down and i look back in my rear mirror and wait to see his front end pop up a little sure enough i see it jump a little and watch him start to catch up his front bumber gets right about to my door when we went through the little dip of a finish line. good race, im hooked for life.

Ya if you buy me a trailer a truck and pay for my track fee i will bring it out there but as of right now it sucks up a hell of a lot of gas i have no trailer to put it on and i have no truck to pull it. Thats why i only race within 20 minutes of my town cause i am still in high school and i have to pay for the gas and weat and tear. A V-8 is no cheap deal.

edit: the closet drag strip is like 40-50 min away.

Theres no way an all motor eclipse with a small shot would keep up with him, if anything the eclipse is probably a 15 second car....

a small shot eclipse seems pretty quick for keeping up with that 385hp nova to me..

yeah, im only making around 370HP, i think, but im making like 430 ft. lbs. of torque, and there is no way that eclips should be able to keep up with me. i out ran a WRX the other night. and i didnt get even with him until about 95 and then just kept pulling away. but either the eclips was pretty fast, or your car is a little slow for what it seems like it should be.

wait sorry its saposed to be right at 350HP. incase anyone is wondering where im getting my numbers its from comp cams websight. they dynoed a almost identican engine as mine. only diff is i have 9.5:1 instead of 9.25:1, oh and im 60 over and they are 40. the only reason my engine is as fast as it is is because by 2000RPM's im making almost 350ft.lbs. already.

Gas isn't too bad there is it? I was on 'E' the other day and filled it at 88 cents a litre....cost me 83 bucks to fill the car. Considering i'm only getting about 16 miles to the gallon around the city, i'm probably worse off then you are jonnyboy!

See my motor's got 385 both hp and tq so thats probobaly why he is able to tail me and i shifted so soon cause i thought i had him and wanted to take it easy on the motor and for the last posts i also hate the gas prices i run medium grade but im thinking of going low grade and put up with the knocking melody that is going to be under my hood.

well you have aluminum heads right? you should be able to run low grade and not have to worry. if it does knock then just retard the timing a little and you should be fine. but if it does knock then dont just put up with it, you are talking about short shifting so you take it easy yet youll put up with knocking... umm yeah. i dont get that but whatever. knocking is no good.

My 14.3 was done with a good 7+ year old tires and low bottle pressure.

but the difference is you got a B18A in a old CRX so your making atleast 175 ( stock engine ) in a 2100 lb car. with your bolt ons and that shot of nitrous you should be making like 210 crank hp in a 2100lb car. that is a big difference from a eclipse which weights close to 3000lbs and coming with only 140hp. can't compare the two. your car without the nitrous should be faster then the GST's which have 220hp. so you have a 140hp car with bolts ons and a small 50shot of nitrous your still only goin to get around 220-230hp give or take. still no where near enough to get you in the 13's. or even the low 14's.

stock i would say his car probably ran 16's maybe, but thats just a guess. i honetly dont know what the used to run. but that 30 years ago. besides his car is not stock. he droped in a crate engine thats making 385HP. he may not be the best driver but that race would probably be pretty close.

Nova's are pretty light though right? I think Red said his is 2400lbs. So if thats the case he "could" be deep in 13s easy... if he can get traction. I mean when he raced the STI he said he stayed with it and then caught it and passed it later. So that would lead me to think hes in the mid to high 13s.

385 hp in that car will have it in the 13's, or 12's.

It's not just about running fast, it's about running fast with what you have and what resources are available to you. In that case, a guy in high school with a civic hatchback than runs 14.3 is pretty damned respectable.

what engine? what is the engine made out of? what blower? and where did you get it? oh and what number is it? or is it fake? and if you make a 9 second run then why dont you remember the numbers perfectly? i would remember the numbers better than my b-day istead of saying i believe it was whatever. that makes it sound like you "believe" you read that the numbers were 9.88. and does anyone have an idea as to what kind of times a 600HP all motor cobra would run? cuz i think thats how much power they are putting out with all motor. so with the blower i would think it should run faster than 9 seconds.
