Here is a thought for what it is worth...
Have you ever noticed that when you turn the car on and have the parking brake set, the running lamps are off? It may be possible to make the switch that controls that function to stay that way. Only problem is I think the brake light on the dash will stay on as well. Might give you a starting point to look at. Good luck.

If it's the same as a 98SC2 - Pull the DRL relay - it has 5 pins, 3 on the top row, two on the bottom. Find a short 2" piece of romex wire, bare the ends & flatten them a little to match the relay pins. Bend it to a U shape. Push one end in the center socket on the top row, push the other end in the left socket on the bottom row.
Tape the relay inside the fuse-box cover in case you want to restore the DRLs. This mod has NO effect on parking brakes or headlights.
To check that it's all OK, make sure you still have a right-side high-beam & NO DRLs.

pull the DRL relay or DRL fuse, no need to touch the headlamp fuses (there are two)

you could just pull the relay. however, on a '02 i think the service wrench light will stay on if that relay is missing.
just curious, why would you want to disable them?
