i just swapped a b16 in my 89 std hatch. everything is in and done. the car will start but it wont tach past 3grand. The wiring is straight and so is the crank angle senor. i have tried about 4 diff distributors and ecus and its still doing it. i was wondering if anyone has any idea whats going on, etc. let me know

Well without knowing what codes the ECU is throwing I would guess its the flux capacitor.

Well, it's definitly something with the distributor. The crank angle sensor is in the distributor. So either you've got 4 bad ones, or your wiring is messed, might want to double check your timing too. Not much else. Are you using the B16 distributor??

its not in the distributor. all the distributors work fine. i have a b20/vtec in a crx and they all work fine on that, i double checked them after trying them on the hatch and they are working fine. yes they are all b16 distributors. the wiring is also straight. any other ideas

the only 4 things that come to mind are distro, timing, wiring or ecu - can't think of anything else.

it is missing somewhat and all like the crank angle sensor is bad but it isnt and the wiring has been checked and checked again.

dude either ur wiring is screwed or ur timing is off. I would say that it's ur timing. Put ur car in fifth gear, then pull in forward till the lower timing belt TDC mark (the one that is separated from the other 3 marks) lines up with the pointer on the lower timing belt cover. Now, see if you cam gear is lined up with the mark on ur upper timing belt cover. If all those line up, then it's ur wiring for sure.

it wasnt the timing, i know how to do that after as many hondas as i have worked on. it was just something stupid. 2 wires not even for the crank angle sensor were too close together, not touching or anything but just happened to move them apart and the car runs fine now.

well, that's why ur supposed to run shielded wire.

Yep, I had the same problem with wires that weren't sheilded properly.
