Short Ram Intake

I own a gold 1997 Saturn SL2 with 119,000 miles on it. It came with dual Flowmaster mufflers, Quest racing pedals, white-face gauge (don't know if that is stock or not) xenon headlamps, halogen daytime running lamps, Pioneer deck and amp with two 12" Kenwood subs in a bandpass box. I just got a cold air intake system (made by CP Products) from ebay consisting of two pipes (seems like one is a short ram tube and the other is a cold air tube) and the mounting accessories with a K&N air filter. There were no instructions, which was irritating, so I just put the short ram and the filter on since I couldn't mount the cold air intake anywhere. Anyone have any idea what I can do in regards to the air intake sensor; there is no hole in either pipe for it. I read on a site that some people put it by the headlight somewhere to get accurate air readings. Anyone know how to do this? Another problem I encountered was finding an easy way to prop up the tube and/or filter since the filter is resting on a rubber tube connecting to the radiator. Also, I was wondering if anyone had any luck by finding any altezzas for saturns? I want to make my saturn look really sick and fast; anyone that could help would be great. I am new to the site and don't plan on going anywhere.

I had the same problem with mine off ebay on my SC 2. I took off the engine overhaul hook to make it straight, then i drilled a hole in the top metal part of the filter and threaded the hole for the AIS. This has been working for me, along with a 2" to 3" plumbing connector woth the two clams because the bule conector warped. Great fixes.

how hard is it to drill the hole and thread it? it seems like a pain, is there an easier way? I'm in the same boat as sick, i have the same intake and only put on the short ram, i'm saving the cold air tube for if i decide i really need to deal with cutting apart my car.

Okay, I think I know where the other pipe mounts but I have instructions coming so I'm gonna wait. The air intake sensor popped out from the stock air box pretty easily so I just taped it on part of the body behind the headlight with aluminum tape. Drilling a hole in the pipe is actually not that great of an idea I discovered because the air is cooler before it reaches the pipe. I definitely won't drill a hole in the air filter either plus the car is doing fine where the sensor is now. My friend might be able to help me with a trick by placing the sensor by the A/C but he said it was pretty hard to do. I will try to keep this updated.

Okay I got instructions for my CAI. It said that cutting may be involved in order to make the pipe and filter fit so I don't think I will put on the second pipe; the short ram is good enough for me anyway, but the air filter pops off the pipe once in a while. I need to find better clamps for the filter i guess. I also don't think that i'll be able to place the sensor by the A/C like i wanted to, but oh well. Next up, mirror tinting!!!

So what's your goal here? Are you hoping for more horsepower?

I'm gonna go for horsepower and looks, but I will try to balance it out. I will get tint next and then some new headers. Tires and rims are probably next and then either a new full exhaust system (only has mufflers) or a turbo kit. Nitrous oxide and a wing are possibilities (although are unlikely, still debating). I am dissapointed that my car only has a short ram setup on it, but at least it will breathe easier and better and that is a definite plus.
