Lights left ON chime won't work

1996 Saturn SL2 4 door coupe

It used to work, but now it does not. When you leave the lights ON, pull the key and open the door, the chime goes off. Now it doesn't.

I dorked out once and left my lights on had to get a jump. I've been very careful since.

Tech Points:
Chime still works when key put in and turned forward but engine not on.
Lights work fine, brights and low.
No other electrical problems.
All fuses doublechecked, I pulled and tested each one.
I also pulled and reseated all relays in engine and dash area

Tips, tricks, Ideas.....?? Anyone have any shop manuals with detailed electrical circuits.....??

I had a similar problem. You may want to make sure that you turn the key all the way back and pull it out. I have a 94 so it may be different, but my key was worn and simply pulling out instead of having to turn it all the way back to unlock it, I had a new key made and I am now set.
