Anyone else into pre 1970 Impalas?

Maybe this forum isn't for me (I'm somewhat new), but it seems like there are very few people talking about early Impalas. Where can I go to chat with people who are into pre '70s Impalas?

I'm restoring a '71 Kingswood Estate wagon, although that is a bit newer than your particular interest. I, too, would like to see more discussion of the older cars. I'm sure you can find a Yahoo group that centers around '60s Impalas. I found one specifically for '71 - '76 GM wagons. I guarantee you there is more interest in '60s Impalas! Stillruns.com may have some links as well. If not, it's a fun site to browse!

Thanks,

Is any one else on this forum driving or restoring an "old school" Impala? Let me know what you've got!

I am currently rebuilding a '65 Impala. The body is currently off the frame and I am planning to install air bags and 20" wheels along with a little custom bodywork and a fully custom fabricated interior (I'm an upholsterer). I am also looking for an LS6 with a T56 trans. It seems that most Impalas are turned into lowriders with 13" wires, so I'm going to do something a little different with mine. My '65 has been in my family since it was new and I remember my grandma driving me around in it when I was a child, so I am planning to give it the rebirth that it deserves.

I also appreciate fully restored cars that have not been modified. I also have a 1960 Cadillac DeVille that is completely stock.

I had a 67 Impala for about 5 years (till somebody pulled out in front of me). Loved that car.
Marina Blue, 283, PowerGlide, and a few options like Bumperguards and Marker lights. I loved that car. If I ever build another one it will be fuel injected with an LSX or LTX and have 17's or larger on it.

I've got a '67 Biscayne, 2 dr, 383. It looks all original. Even the engine looks like a 327 at first glance.

I go to Hotrodders.com for most of my info. This board isn't really geared to what I'm interested in. There's also ChevyTalk, but again you could die of old age before you get a response.

I just bought a 67 ss, w/ rebuilt engine. I have to replace the rear 1/4 panels and want to do a complete disc conversion. Now the problem I am running into is where to get parts for my 67--they seem to be hard to find. Any suggestions?

I've been away from this forum for a while and I'm glad to see that there are more people here with old school Impala's, Caprice's and Biscayne's than I thought. Love the pics of "sirstudes" '65! But, then again, I have a fondness for the '65's. There's just something about looking in the side mirror and seeing the top of her hips turns me on! I think this is something that only '65/'66 drivers can truly appreciate.

Well since this thread has been ressurected, might as well add my :2cents: Don't forget about the Bel Airs too. I'm currently restoring a 1964 Bel Air I bought back in 1992. I put a 406 cu in, (originally a 400 from a '70 Impala.) It's taken longer than I want to finish the restore, as I have other obligations,( family, renovating house,) that take up my time. But I can't wait until I'm finished with it.

I really like mid-1960s Impalas. I'm glad that the 2009/2010 Impala will have rwd though.

I have a 66 impala -- but not the SS -- it's a 2 door hardtop. Bought it in 1979. I've painted it and rebuilt the stock 283. Removed the powerglide and put in a 350 turbo tranny. Used the console and some of the dash trim as well as the tilt telescope stearing column from a wrecked 66 caprice. Put in swivel bucket seats. Car is basically parked now -- it looks pretty shabby. Runs fine. I'd like to repaint it and upgrade the suspension and brakes and maybe put in a supercharged engine.

I'm a big '65-'68 full size fan. I've had around 20 total so far, the best were a '65 Belair wagon with a 327, fuelie heads, M21 4-speed and 12 bolt posi. Other memorables were my '67 SS Impala, '66 Caprice 4-door and '68 Custom Coupe.

Been working on a 1963 Chevy IMpala Sport Sedan hardtop . ..(the pointy grill, not the flat one), 4 door, with the No Window posts. I love this car to death and have been working on it for about 2 months. I picked it up for 400 running, but the rear quarter was smashed and had to be replaced. I took it out and am still looking for the quarter. Anyays, that's my baby..Look for it one day this year.

2009 Impala to use retro styling?

I wonder if the next-generation Impala will use retro styling.

The new Camaro concept has retro styling, but I think it looks more modern than the new Dodge Challenger concept. The new Chevrolet HHR has retro styling and it is selling well.

A new Camaro will likely debut in 2009 or 2010.
