Just a few early pics :
I've tried to point out the small amount of work on the resin peices to put them right - (you're probably well aware of the problems from previous builds). I've noticed that the body is warped on the LHS :uhoh: I'm hoping when it's mated to the chassis and glued it'll pull in a bit. Haven't decided on color or wheels yet - I'll keep you posted.

Looking forward to seeing this one completed Andy.

Are you going to the Hinkley show on the 18th.

There'll be plenty of room on the table if you want to bring some models down.

It is on mine as well, the casting is a bit narrow, and it's a hard one to fix.
Looking great in the pearl white.

Here's where I am currently - polished out the paint and added the window trim, seats are SAS Bride Zeta II (and very nice they are too !) sprayed with Humbrol matt enamel No. 60 - difficult to see in the pics but it's a very bright red (need to c/f the seat backs or chicken out & paint them black !). Interior will probably be satin black to contrast with the seats. Think I'll go with the TE37's but may spray them gold.
Sorry the pics are a bit dark - overcast here at the mo.

Great model. I think it would look great if you gave the head lights a smoke effect or color them black, it would contrast nicely with the white :grinno:

Don't seem to able able to make much progress on things at the moment but here's a couple of pics of the completed interior -seats are from SAS.
(The Kit interior is fairly basic - here's hoping Aoshima give us more detail)

its good to see you take a stab at this SHITTY kit.

I have the same problems with mine as you guys have mentioned...

the S15 body is crushed. the whole model is basically unusable and I will have to scrap it for parts (thats unacceptable for such an expensive kit IMO) thanks HLJ!! . the hood line is crooked and the a-pillars are crooked. its screwed completely. best I can make use of it is going to be to cut the front off and do a S15 conversion on another silvia or something. I tried boiling water method and it didn't help.

rear resin bumper is shit. way too narrow. needs to be completely reworked. did you ultimately salvage it?

front resin bodykit is sub-par. don't even compare it to products like SAS, two different worlds in terms of quality. huge chunks of resin hanging off the edges (HUGE) intercooler molded in (poorly), and it doesn't fit as well as it should. salvageable, but if I wanted to do this much scratchbuilding I would have made my own damn bodykit. wtf? :banghead:

and the "aftermarket" white metal wing? looks like balsa wood. I wouldn't put that on my worst enemy's 70HP civic.

sorry to whore the thread but all these people coveting this kit should know.. its not that great.

anyone that wants this kit I urge you to wait it out a little longer and shoot for an S15 kit from Chris @ SAS (*hint *hint Chris..)

good luck, I know 1st hand how much hard work you are putting into this project to make a good build of it. keep us up to date!! Im interested in seeing you pull this off.

The kit isn't that bad. Sure it takes some cleanup and finagling to get right, and isn't a perfectly fitting model like Tamiya puts out, but if you want a model of the Garage MAK this is the way to go. Now, the real gripe is that I think the front bumper is ill-proportioned, too tall. That is also fixable. That's the beauty of the hobby, after all, isn't it? Making something from close to nothing?

Andy Jones

Here's where I am currently - only the suspension & exhaust to go really - I know it's not 100% accurate but I just love the look of the thing :naughty: (which I guess is why we all build what we build)
