While the van is running (for the most part) the lights go off after 10 seconds. When I turn off the key they come on and will not go out. Finally I looked at the fuse panel under the dash and removed fuse 29 which is suppose to be for interior illumination. Now front power windows do not open. Door open still shows on the dash. Does anyone know how to fix this? thanx.

If you could, please add your car problem with the interior lights to http://www.CarComplaints.com .. we have the same problem reported for other years but not the 95 Windstar
Thanks!

one of your door switches is stuck internally, probably the tailgate. I have removed and examined these things, and it is just a matter of time before they begin to stick. if you lubricate them, be careful as to what kind of oil used. it may initially "unstick" them, only to congeal, gather dirt/dust and then begin the process again.

On my 98 Windstar when the motor is running and a door is opened there is a brief ring tone. When I opened the problem door there was no tone. THIS IS THE PROBLEM DOOR AND THE ONE TO CONCENTATE ON!!!
I used carb cleaner to clean the switches. Other previous posts used WD-40.

Spray all the door latches with an electronics cleaner that contains a lubricant such as the Caig De-Ox-It. Carb cleaners and WD-40 are death on electronics. Be sure to get both the front and back latches on the sliding door(s).
