99 Ford Windstar,70000 miles on clock has noise coming from left side when ever you turn steering wheel,Can,t tell if its coming from inner or outer tie rod or lower ball joint or the steering gear its self.Anyone had this problem and has a fix??

First guess is CV joint. When you turn are you turning right or left? Is it a whine or a clicking noise?

The noise is present sitting still in the drive way.I think that rules out a cv joint.I intend to disconnect the outer tierod and see if i have a noise in the spendle ball joint when the spendle is moved back and forth

Sounds like one of the "sealed for life" ball joints or tie rod ends has run dry and is making noise when they rotate. You can try to grease them by using one of those grease gun needles, where you poke the needle thru the boot & give it a shot of grease. Only other option is replace the b-joint or t-rod end. Try to use aftermarket ones with grease fittings.

I used a grease needle on both my outer tie-rod ends and ball joints a few weeks back and it completely eliminated the noise.

Hi Joel

My '96 had a popping noise during cornering, start-stop and also when stopped and turning wheel L&R. In my case is was the subframe bushings. I changed all 4 and things are quiet.
