2000 3.8 Cold Start Problem

My 2000 3.8 V6 will not start easily when cold. The motor cranks fine, but will not start unless I depress accelerator to floor twice to "prime" it. Then it starts right away. Starts easily when warmed up. Ordinarily this would not bother me (stomping twice on the gas), but my wife is the daily driver of the car. She cannot seem to get it right, and cranks away with no result. I replaced the air intake sensor, with little effect. Dealer is ready to replace fuel filters, pumps, etc. and does not seem to have a clue. Suggestions?

Let me know if you find out whats wrong, mine is doing the same thing. I have replaced air filters, i tried putting new spark plugs and wires and no change. My next step is to see if the EGR valve has any role in it. I think I'm going to pull it off sometime soon and see if it needs cleaned out. I will let you know if that helps any....

At the rate i'm going with my impala, i should be considered a master mechanic....hehe

Chevron fuel injector cleaner on first tank, and a can of SeaFoam on last tank seems to have improved the cold starting - maybe about 50% better, but not a complete fix be any means. I'm guessing fuel injectors are part of problem? What is the EGR valve?
