Af Is Shutting Down!!!!!!!!!!

IM NOT KIDDING! THIS FREAKIN SUCKS! TO WHO EVER THAT DOESNT KNOW YET, AF WILL BE SHUTTING DOWN! THE ANNOUNCMENT IS AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE.This freakin sucks like he**!!! AF is why i model damnit! This cant be happening!!!!! This is what one of the mods wrote below.



I have just got off the phone to AFs founder, owner and administrator - Igor Sushko. It is with great regret that I have to inform all of you that despite last ditch attempts, two of our major sponsors are pulling the plug due to unforseen legal circumstances in relation to infringements with the 350Z project. Running a forum such as AF is rarely economical at the best of times, and it has come to the worst of times. The server will be operational until the end of this week. I am deeply saddened by this passing as this has been one of the web's best communities to be involved in.

I am still in a state of shock as this is the moment we have been trying to avoid for more than 3 weeks now. I wish everyone the best, please contact myself or Igor with anything further.

This really sucks a big one! Most of my time is spent on AF. even though i'm a member at several other forums and helping robert out with his modeling boards, I still stay on af when i'm online, even at work!!
Well I guess I'll get to spend more time at roberts boards since it is a new forum and It was my 2nd favorite home on the web.

Wow.. what a bad news.. guy we must think about saving the community (at least the modeling one)

if Oz pm's me back with an answer to my bandwidth question, i may be able to set up some forums myself for us modellers to transfer over to... not sure tho

well surfer, there's a problem with your idea really... a mass migration could possibly cause smaller forums to collapse also... bandwidth is really expensive, and some people cant afford to have hundreds of users viewing at the same time

Even though i think this is an april fools joke that we are going to find out about around the same time tomorrw night, I would like to suggest the link in my sig for an alternative forum. It's new and just starting out.
If not oh well, there are a good few out there and i'm sure the community won't be far off!

I check out many other modeling fourms, so IF it is true i expect the traffic to pick up around all of them.

that would happen but I know Chris from there ( he owns Tiny Imports) and he has been wating for a big load of people to come so he can make and improve the forums there

I was a member of a Mazda forum on proboards some time ago who had well over 500 members and at peak traffic times it never ran as slow for me as AF does some times.

I could setup it on my website for a start so we could stay in tutch for further devlopement. I have unlimited bandwith, but low space. We would need a good server for the modelling comunity, but we will see that later

I'm web Designer and Network administrator.. i got this license for a client that never used it so, I still have it in my hand.. so a nice 199$Us Licenses. anyway, we will see, my webhost could not hold 100 users at a time it will blow

Anyway there's Phpbb that is free too.. I already installed them so I can setup praticly anything (it's my job after all :lol: )

hehe vric you read my mind... i've been waiting for Oz to pm me back about the use of bandwidth this forum has... i was hoping i could set up some suckier invision boards... i have 50gigs of rollover bandwidth, which means i've piled up about 500gigs since i got my hosting... unlimited is always better though :)

It is with my greatest regret that I write this.

AutomotiveForums.com has been online since November of 2000 - well over 3 years. In our time, AF has grown from being a small site struggling to gain new members to a website that is overflowing with wonderful people from various countries around the world. On our journey, we have had our ups and downs, this current 'down' is unfortunately way below the waist.

AutomotiveForums.com will officially shut down on April 5th, 2004. The domain name, in remembrance of the great website that it has grown to be, will remain held and unavailable.

I wish I had been keeping a running list of people I would like to thank for this inopportune moment. But... I had never in my wildest dreams thought this day would come.

I want to thank everyone that I have come in touch with over the past years through AF for your help, advice, assistance, and everything else.

I cannot write any longer as it brings forth too much pain.

We hope that you will remember AF as a great community that was once the strongest online, truly "connecting the auto enthusiasts" of all kinds.

It's been an incredible ride. I hope everyone has enjoyed it as much as I have.
