Hi,
Here's hoping somebody can throw some light on this piece of ****!
Having just spent $3,526.08, on the torque converter/transmission, and having an unpleasent taste in my mouth. Chrisitine the car from hell, will not start. Having had the car back for only a few days, problems developed with the car failing to start. On the first occassion, the car was towed to a garage, at a further cost of $120. When the mechanics went to look at it, it started first time. Consequently could'nt find the fault. Since then, over the last couple of weeks, it has been for the most part difficult to start on a daily basis. After a few cranks, it may or may not start. Sometimes leaving it for a short period of time and going back to it, may or may not start! The car has been back to the original garage, and they adjusted the crank position sensor. They did mention that the D.P.F.E. had a slight fault, but would not cause any problems other than put the service light on. The garage stated that should not have any further problems with the car. Wrong!
Have owned the car for approx. 7 months. Within the first month, problems with the car stalling and refusing to start arose. As still under the month warrenty, garage picked up that bill, $2,500. That was a 6" electric cable running to the fuel pump, which had an intermittant break.
Found it by luck, when they were going to change the fuel pump.
The car now simply refused to start at all. So guess it's towing time again. Can anybody throw some light on this piece of ****. Am i just throwing good money after bad now?
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Sorry you're having so many problems. Sounds like your van is cranking fine just not starting right? On other forums I always see a ton of posts about the fuel pump relay going bad, some even keep a spare on board. Also when they are going bad they can go in and out like you are describing. Could be a cheap thing to try, I think they're $10 or less but I'm not sure.

I had this problem too. It was attributed to corrosion in the power leads to the starter motor.

What year is the vehicle? Are you sure it has not had flood damage or something of the sort? Do you have the proper fuel pressure at the rail? If the pressure is ok, do you have spark at the plugs? Is the engine even turning over when you say it will nor start? If it turns over is it making any attempt to start? Just a few things that have been omitted from your post. Good luck.
