i am currently in the process of building a ls/vtech conversion. I an building the bottom end with eagle h-beam rods(good up to 600 hp) and forged wiseco pistons with wiseco rings with a compression rating of 9.2. i went low on compression because i am going to put a turbo on it and once im done with the bottom end i am going to be done with it. I dont want to have to tear it back down because i fried some rings or blew a hole in my piston. any ways i am going to put a vtec head on it and i was wondering what head you would put on the motor. i am going between b16 or b18c1. also what year of these heads do i need to put on my block(i want to have to do as little wiring as possible) thanks

I would go with a B16 head for better commpression, I am guessing the 88-91 1st gen B16 head would be the best as for wiring

If you're building for boost and you've got pistons and rods I wouldn't even waste the time and money on a VTEC head. Just get a good fuel managment system and run high boost.

Why a B16 head for better compression? The GSR head will yield a higher compression ratio. Unless of course you meant, go with b16 because it will keep the compression low.
