All the things wrong with my impala

Whats going on everyone, I just registered to let some of you know whats gone wrong with my 2000 base 3.4 impala. I bought the car with 41,000 miles on it. I test drove it and loved it. Since then, i hate it. Here is a list of things i have done with it.
Had the fuel regulator replaced because it was leaking in the engine compartment and the engine was running rough. It still runs a little rough, i thought about changing the spark plugs and wires. It wasn't recommended by the dealer, but i'm going to try it anyways. I thought about the fuel filter and the oxygen sensor too....don't know what to replace next. Any ideas?
Second, the blinkers work only when they want to. I discovered if you mess with the hazard switch, push it on and off really quick a few times....low and behold they work again.
Third, the display on the clock flickers on and off, discovered if you twist he knob for the display brightness, it's will adjust it somewhat.
GOing down the road at about 65mph and started to slow down, heard a loud clunk, snap type sounds the the brake pedal went to the floor. Started down shifting with the column shifter to stop. Had it towed to the dealer and they replaced the master cyinder. EXPENSIVE!!!!!
Had it taken in a few times because of the vibration in the steering, they aligned it, no change, and they balanced the tires, no change...no idea there. Any ideas?
I replaced all the brake pads and rotors about 15000 miles ago. Starting to feel like the front rotors are warped already, and most of those miles are highway miles. I guess i should replace the brakes with every oil change.
The security light comes on in the message center everyone once in awhile. Took it to the dealer they said nothing was wrong with it, still comes on every once in awhile.
The front passenger door makes a nice waterfall into the car through the car wash...dealership replaced the weather stripping and no problems there.
The heater blower on the car would only work on 5 (high), they replaced something in it and it works in all numbers now. You where eiter hot or cold.
The engine is started to skip, spit and sputter and i have no idea why...dealership says there is nothing wrong with the car. They said it runs great, even thought I don't get the miles per gallon like i used too.
When the engine is started in the morning, there is a very noticable ticking sounds and it's quite loud, after the motor warms up it seems to go away. When it's really cold outside it's squeals really loud for a few minutes. I haven't a clue why and the dealership in their infinite wisdom said there is nothing wrong with it.
The transmission shifts kinda hard, in all gears. Especially when it goes into over drive, there is a nice jerk. Also when i put it into reverse, there is a loud clunk sounds. When you push on the gas, it takes a brief second to catch, then there is a big jerk and it starts moving, it even does this at low speeds like under 15mph. if you let off of the gas going about 10, and push the gas again there is a jerk and a clunk sounds. Dealership said........guess.
I bought a 1991 oldmobile for 5500. It had 56,000 on it when i got it. I got rid of it with 165,000 miles. I NEVER had a problem with that car other then general maintance. I got rid of it thinking it was time to get a new one, boy was i wrong. I hate this impala and I plan on getting rid of it very shortly. I read through review and everyone says they like there and this and that. I would never buy an impala again.
Thanks,
Mike

Can you believe it, I forgot something, there is a loud clunking sound in the front end when you push on the brakes, give it gas, or turn a corner. I was told there is something like a packing kit you can buy...I LOVE THIS CAR......it's nickel and diming me to death

I have a 2000 Impala and I hate it too. I am getting rid of mine. The clunk noise you here when turning is the intermedite shaft from the steering column to the rack. They sell that packing kit to fix it and it works, did it to mine a couple of months ago. Not a hard thing to do. Now no more clunk noise. I also have a clunk in the tranny going into reverse and I have got mixed responses about that. Took it to four different places. Two tranny shops and two dealers. Both tranny shops said it was an internal problem in the tranny and the two dealers said there was nothing wrong with it. ?????????????????? Mine seems to drive fine with no shifting problems.

I really hate to hear that you guys hate your Impalas, and have had so much trouble with them. I wish I could get to them and straighten them out for you. I actually enjoy working on such well designed cars.
For the past four years I've tried to find local Impala owners to get their opinions about theirs and of all of them the only one I have talked to that had major trouble parked hers because a loud knock developed in her 3.4 engine at 80,000 miles, so I tried to buy the car from her and she will not part with it. I've called her four times and have finally given up. She just ain't going to part with it.
Everybody else I've talked to like the car better than anything else they have ever owned. I'm looking to buy an LS or maybe even an SS next year, although I'd still rather have the new GTO with the LS1 engine. :naughty:

change wires and plugs
change hazard switch
change dimmer switch
check tires and shocks/suspension
ticking sound is probably a fuel problem....

try changing the fuel filter and using an injector cleanier aferwards for several tanks for the ticking noise.
the thunking shift noise is probably the tranny filter. it could also be wear and tear...

I had the clunking noise when I turned in my 2002. The dealership said the steering shaft has to be lubricated. They did that and now no more problems. I've had my 02 for 2 and a half years and that has been the most signifigant problem so far. then again I only have about 22K miles on it.

Good day,
I had the same problem. I bought 2 sets of new rotors with the same results. I finally bought some high performance rotors (expensive). So far (10,000 miles) I have had no problems.

Bermis you said your Impala had 41,000 miles on it when you bought it, do you trust the person you bought it from? There is a lot of odometer fraud going on these days and it's possible your car may have far more miles on it, even up to 200,000 or more. They sent three car dealers to prison last year for odometer fraud where I live and more should have gone but they didn't have enough evidence on them. They not only turned the odometers back but also doctored the titles where it was very hard to catch them. Just a thought..........
