indash stereo recommendation

ok. heres the thing. during easter break we are going to be taking a trip to texas to visit a few relatvies down there. and considering we live in ohio, its gonna take atleast a day one way. what we had in mind was to get some kind of mobile dvd system installed. my question is, has anyone had any success with the head unit replacements that have the lcd screens that pop out? im wondering cuz it looks as if the gearshift would get in the way.

Try www.crutchfield.com , they are pretty good at designating units that will fit without issues like that + you can ship it back to them if you dont like the way it looks / works. From what I understand, the double DIN installation kit they sell works well.
