SL2 starts then immediately dies

My car is acting very strangely.

Problem 1. When I tried to start my 2000 SL2 the warning lights on the dash started blinking and nothing would happen (besides just turning the key).

Solution:
The battery had an enormous amount of corrosion around the positive terminal. I spent a lot of time cleaning the terminal.

Problem 2. After cleaning the terminal I tried to start the car. There were no lights blinking and this time the car immediately started. However, the car immediately died. This is now my cars lifecycle, it will immediately start rev to 500 then dies...why? Any suggestions? I included problem 1 because I am not sure if the two problems are related.

Hello,

Well I figured out my problem:

After running a lot of tests I came to the conclusion there was nothing wrong with my car and started looking for the most simple of problems. For some reason when I disconnected the battery to clean the terminals something happened where Passlock was kicked on (PassLock is GMCs theft deterrent device) and the Passlock system "forgot" my key. So, if your car starts then immediately dies and yout patient is a GM product:

NEVER remove the key during this process
1.) Turn the key to the on position for 20 minutes.
2.) Turn your key all the way to the left (the off possition)
3.) Count to seven (one-thousand one, one-thousand two...)
4.) Start the car.

Nobody I talked to knew anything about this and this simple procedure was NOT in the owner's manual. Thankfully I am a very stubborn person and did not tow my car to Saturn :)
