I just got a new to me (second hand) 2001 windstar LX, 34Kmi. Anyone know of a good place online to order a replacement cabin / HVAC air filter? The one in there is absolutely filthy!! so much for the dealer's "reconditioning" process :disappoin. None of the local parts places ever have them + the look on thier faces is priceless when you ask for one :eek7: :banghead: . I hate to go to a blue oval parts counter for one.
THANKS!

Purolator makes one, I picked one up at Meijer. I would think any auto parts place would have one too. If there's a Purolator or Fram book there take a look and I'm betting they have it listed, the guys probably just don't have any idea what they are.

Thanks Lewis. I'll have to keep looking around. My local autozone and advance auto don't have any listings for them, nor do they know what they are (not surprising) :disappoin . I found a ford replacement online for $22 shipped to my door, but I hate to pay that much if I don't have to! I'm sure the one in my van is original. It's dirty, but air flow is still great!

Found some. www.advanceautoparts.com has them for $9.28 :naughty: . FYI- Purolator # C15389.

Eeeek! Not even If I was going to trade it in the next day :disappoin . The purolator from advance auto worked out great. You wont find one any cheaper either.

Guys,

Question: Which way is the proper way to install the cabin air filter? I've seen some post that says arrow (air flow) should be up and others that say arrow should be down. I'm guessing air flows down to heater box so air flow (arrow) should be down? Please, only reply if you know for sure .... I've had both answers so I'm trying to get the correct one.

Thanks,

AJ

John, The air flow naturally comes from the outside air, and goes down from the cabin filter plenum, into the heater box module. The arrow on the filter would point down.

Sometimes pictures help people out, here is a diagram of the airflow attached.
