Emissoin Failed Need HELP

Hey my emission failed today and they gave me a code of P1404 and that is the EGR but they didnt tell me what exactly it would be.. Would anyone know what or why i failed it and what part of the egr that i would need to replace or how to look and fix it my self without going to the dealer and spending a sh!t load of money there.. thanks andie
