Which generation celica do you like the most?
im pretty sure that the 7th gen will win this so too make it a bit more interesting post them in order from 1 to 7.
Also while im at it, is it just me or are 6th gens really rare? i've only seen 2 ever on the road. Maybe they didnt import many to Canada? not sure.
anywayz here is a website showing what each gen looks like if you dont know:
http://www.toyotacelicaonline.com/gallery.htm
also tell me how you based your list. ie looks, performance, reliability, overall.
my choices are
1. 7th
2. 5th
3. 6th
4. 4th
5.1st
6.3rd
7.2nd
post your no.1 favorite in poll above:)

i would have to vote 5th generation. They are just way ahead of there time and i love the looks. Myself i wasnt very impressed with the 6 or 7th gen celicas. Btw i live in Canada and i see the 6th gens all the time.

5th? 5th? they're so bulbish, at least a 6th gen GT4. But you can't say no to a pure 1st Gen Lift back!

ok, that's not a great pic of one, but there are some really nice ones out there.

yo guys.... I must say the 5th gen rules... maybe not in power or handling, but for its looks and hey... tis the only one with the Carlo Sainz Ltd Ed... only 5000 in the world! And I got one of it.... sad ting is, there's prob only abt 10 left from where I come from, down from 25 tat was sold in '92....
2nd wld have to be the 6th gen.... for their horses and no-nonsense and no-boy-racer looks....
3rd is the 7th gen.... great potential and I can't wait for the GT4 version *yum-yum* (heard Toyota's testing them in Suzuka in one-off races)

!st gen all the way! Reliability- great. Handling- too much roll when stock but easily fixed to more than great (rwd) Modifiability- their are few cars that are better! you can stick anything in their engine bay from a 351 to a 2jz! Power- will propel you to 10 sec 1/4 mile times for about $1000 USD if you get the right motor!

Come on Lads
The ST205 is the way
Rock hard style (non of this hair dressers paradise)
Lots of power great to upgrade very well built
And will of cores nock all the rest for 6
Hell I would have it just for its slandered 300 front breaks with factory standard 4 pot aluminium callipers

Designed by gods
Built by genesis

1st Generation OWNS!! Just say "NO" to FWD!! 2nd Generation comes in second becuase of styling. 3rd is flat out ugly and they go down hill from there on. I LOVE the old school Celicas though.

to reply to the comment on the 74 celica so called (lift back) it was actually called a fast back and was a limited production model which if u have one the classic car value is around 6209.00 now

I think its pretty clear that 5th gens rock! the 3sgte can fly and as for the looks... lets just say Supra Wanna Be!!! I have a 5th gen and i love the thing. Its a GT, completely stock with the 5sfe and it can smoke DSMs. Maybe its just my killer instinct and driving skills, but any way you look at it, if you do so minor mods to the 5th gen (definitely need a spoiler) its the best Celica combination out there. I don't know the 1st and 2nd gens very well but i still love my 5th best!

as a man who has either owned or drove(at least a month or more thanks to familys car lot) every gen of celica i can honestly say
1. 1st gen (and its NOT easy to fit any motor in it like a jz alot easier in a 2nd gen)
2. 2nd gen (i own & building a coupe now for autocross so i'm bias but i love this car)
3. 6th gen (w/ awd its just a blast! & a nice car, but hard to come by here)
4. 7th gen (its a beautiful car in & out, but obd2 ecu thinks way to much! to enjoy)
and the rest is a tie as i have more to complain about them
but i still like, as in a good price i would buy anyone of them

3rd & 4th gen i dislike the bodys but can be ton of fun to drive
5th gen i like the body for the most part, but ack the motor is a nightmare i have never seen so many blown motors (4A-FE, 5S-FE) come through the shop, but All-trac w/ 3S-GTE is sweet but only seen & drove one in Canada

rwd is just the fun ones to drive, awd can be great too, and fwd are ok

power to weight ratio is important
& remeber its not about hp its about torque
hp= (torque*rpm)/5252
as you can have rpm & it look like alot of power, but w/o torque is alot of noise for no go

6TH Generation All The Way. 7th generation starts making it look so girly. and the 5th genereation has the ugly gril and signal lights. plus, the 6th Generation GT4 such an amazing car!

you know how toyota likes to make their motors responsive =D Like the current 3SGE compared to a K20A can be tuned to the same HP but the 3S is a bit more responsive.

blakscorpion21
05-27-2005, 11:47 PM
mine are 7,6,5,3,1,2,4 the 7th gen is the best looking and not bad on performance they shoulda made a 7th gen gt4 but toyota are pussies and stopped the celica.

91 Celica St
05-28-2005, 02:52 AM
holy thread ressurection to the two of you :)

nialusa
05-28-2005, 06:54 AM
Holy dead thread batman. But just to keep it going, even if they did make a 7th Gen GT4, it would have either been a completely watered down version that would have been about as much fun as a slap in the face, or, you guys in the States wouldnt have got it as it wouldnt have complied with your emissions laws. Also theres no point in Toyota making a 7th gen gt4 as they dont `rally` anymore.
