yea I know but stuill toyota needs to compete with other car makers performance wise look what they have know the matrix and corolla ooohhhh scary they have nothing to compete with the evo, 350 z, rx 8, s2000, wrx, srt4, the liost goes on and on.

Toyota wont do it, they couldnt compete with the cheapness of Subaru`s, or the well established Evo`s and Skylines. They dont Rally anymore like Subaru and Mitsubishi so dont need to produce such a car for the homologation (sp) rules or to keep the rally fans happy, S2000`s and RX8`s are crap, plasticy piss poor attempts at a sports car with poor girly images or chocolate engines. But yes, it is a shame they wont produce something with a bit of balls. Maybe they have something in the pipeline that we dont know about yet. If they give up on F1 and get back into rallying maybe we will see the return of the GT4. Fingers crossed.

6th gen is a knock-off of another car.

Exactly what car is the 6th gen a `knock-off` of?????

SigmaProjects
05-29-2005, 05:41 AM
Maybe he's complaining about the headlights being similiar to integs? But that's hardly a knock off.

You know toyota has been developing a super car that's suppose to be in the 6 figure price range. A 500 hp something or rather. You can read the article if you want http://www.thecarconnection.com/index.asp?article=7633

BTW... 3rd gens rule =P Hard to top the TA64 Group B rally race car :evillol: at least when it comes to RWD celicas.

why do you say s2000s are crap? they got more hp per liter than any non turbo production car. you said urself that one gave u a good run for your money in ur gt4.

yea ive seen that but we need a car us normal people can afford.

I just don't know why they have to be so heavy, 2-seater 4 banger should never be over 2650lbs, not 28XXlbs. if it's going to be 28XXlbs put the C32 motor in it and at least then it will have some TQ and available power at lower RPMs. Not to mention 290 hp.

It did indeed, Im not denying they are fast cars and have Honda`s usual good engine (its the scoobies and RX8`s that have the chocolate engines) but I drove an s2000 about a year or so ago and it was horrible. Not a nice driving experience at all. It was a real handfull round the tight twistie corners. I`d never buy one.

yes, you know damn well 6th gen is the least orig of all of em. acura knock off??yep, more than just the headlights. dont get me wrong..i like them, but there still a knock-off.

the s2000 is a fucking pooch, its maxxed from the factor, please find me an all motor S2K over even 250 WHP or one thats blown that has over 500 WHP... you wont and cant, that motor is great stock but has slim to no potential after that

and i totally agree with nialusa about the s2000 handling like crap as well, the ass end loved to get quit squirrely even at low speeds

turbo? High comp S/C like the 240R motor in the newer Lotuses?

it's so hard to choose my favorite... but I think this is the order of my favorite.
1. 4th
2. 5th
3. 6th
4. 3rd
5.1st
6.7th
7. 2nd
The older cars, except for the 1st gens are lighter. So they're a little easier to drive. They pick up speed really fast. My 4th gen only weight 725 lbs. They might now be the newest of anything but they cal still beat some newer cars. Like that Del Sol the other week...oh wait...Honda's are junk anyway.

blakscorpion21
07-07-2005, 09:39 AM
ur 4th gen does not weigh anything close to 700 lbs no car is that light. probably in the 2800 lb range. regardless you still probably couldnt take a del sol those things are quick espesially the vtecs. they dont have alot of power but they are light as hell. and the 7th gens are one of the lightest celicas only 2500 lbs.

you can come look in my door. I swear it does. I'll take a pic of it when i get it back from the shop. Not only that but I had 4 guys from my school lift the back end of my car up and move it into another spot.

blakscorpion21
07-07-2005, 09:48 AM
are you sure thats not the load capacity or something cause theres no way any car is that light .

CactuarGirl
07-07-2005, 09:50 AM
it might be. I only glanced at it but my friend told me it was how much it weighted...then again...he's not too smart. but neither am i. Once I get it back I'll double check.

i know and i'm probably wrong. This is my favorite second gen. I wanted to show you because most people don't seem to like 2nd gens. It's my ex bf's car and it was going to be mine but he rana straight pipe on it and got pulled over. He had no money to fix it...so this car is gone forever

That is a sweet 2nd gen. Ha, my dad has an old 80 celica supra that we wanna fix up. It would look awesome. Your car probably weighs about 2500 depending on the motor size. The only cars that could possibly weigh 700 lbs are golf carts. I was thinking about turning a golf cart into a drag racer. Ha, think of the look on people's faces when I whoop them in a dinker golf cart. Don't feel dumb, I knew a guy that told everyone his nissan altima weighed 1200 lbs. I took it to a weigh station: 2830 lbs.

lol i don't feel dumb. Yea that's my fave 2nd gen. 81 celica gt...if i ever find one again I'm gonna get my ex bf to paint it like he painted that one

jaybratt
07-07-2005, 11:53 PM
Maybe I should get a hold of him and have him paint our celica supra. Haaa. The top color in that pic is the same yellowish color the celica supra is. Of course, the car is gettin kinda green with all the weeds that call it home.

CactuarGirl

weeds??!!!! You're letting weeds grow on a supra!!!! shame shame

ok this is a bit late but i was just reading this and what about the s2000
i have one and they are the shit, they handle like a dream, and about having no potential for more power, there is a guy running 852 hp in his s2k so get you facts straight.

blakscorpion21
12-05-2005, 08:28 AM
the s2000 engine in stock form is a high compression unresponsive engine. just like the rsx-s some guys put 1500 dollars in mods on an rsx-s and got like 15 hp. it is still a good car. aere u sure that the honda still had the same engine?

lilsteeg
12-05-2005, 03:38 PM
yea the honda had a rebuilt version of the engine, stroked to 2.5 with all new internals and a strengthend block. it chugs down gas worse than my old firebird though because it has 1200cc injectors. but still the s200 handels great, it may slip a lil bit with old tires on but when you have driven a dodge viper and old firebirds, the s200 does not power slide at all, but back to the more important topic 6th gen is my favorite, i love the gt4 and thats why i chose the 6th but style wise 5th.

This comment is about a year late :p but my 75 (first gen) celica LT weighs in at 997kg or 2193 pounds (I think...between 990 and 1000 anyway).

If anyone is interested in the 1st Gen Celicas then visit this wep page: http://www.classic-celica.nl 10 Galleries of pics.

My vote was for the 1st gen (albeit a late one :p). Light, no frills and no plastic s**t!

Peace

Thats crazy how people can bring up old threads. How do you people find these old threads?

jaybratt

The newbies run searches like all the old timers tell them too, and then they reply to what they find :)
