GSR vs GSX

Ya the AWD helps ALOT, with a manual tranny you can drop the clutch at 7k and the wheels dont even chirp. Its an instant go. Its pretty cool but you take the good with the bad, driveline parts can break and you need a real good clutch to constantly keep dropping the clutch at such high RPMs. And AWD just makes the car have overall better handling.

From what I've heard about 2nd Gen 4g63's you don't want to rev up to 7k and drop the clutch I hear what happens to them is called Jackstanding. I think this happens when the tranny drops right out. I hear that you can do that to 1st 4g63's (eclipses and talons) b/c they are built a bit tougher.

GSR- 170hp @ 7600, 128 ft-lbs torque @ 6200
GSX- 210 @ 6000, 214 ft-lbs torque @ 3000
this doesnt take a rocket scientist to figue out! this is straight from edmunds. for the 99 model


GSR: 170 HP = 15.7 quarter mile
Toyota MR-s: 138 HP= 15.1 quarter mile

See the differance? It's not just horsepower, it's also weight. I know that a stock GSX will beat a GSR, but you're acting like it's gonna win just because it has more horsepower, it's not just horsepower. Here's more proof...

Ducati 996: 108 HP= 10.6 quarter mile

For me, the bottom line is GSX. The fastest street GSX I've seen does mid 8s, the fastest street GSR I've seen does low 11's. A very big differance. With equal drivers, I think a GSR will outhandle a GSX in a canyon or a road course.

EDIT: Whoever put's down SRT-4s and says "at the end, they're just neons" is a fuckin idiot. you might as well look at the 9 second Hondas we have today and say "at the end, they're just economy cars" . The new SRT-4 runs well into the 13's...with a turbo the size of a fuckin dougnut. Higher boost, stickier tires and this thing will be right behind a Corvette (with respect to the Corvette)...and it's a 4 cylender, 4 door, FWD car. So stop talkin shit about SRT-4s.

The DSM is faster, so in a straight line it would win.

Mod for mod, or should we say dollar for dollar, the DSM would still win. It has more power potential.

In terms of handling, looks(subjective), economy, and reliability, the GS-R will take it.

the better looks part is not subjective. no matter how you put it integras look way titer than gsx's.
